Ubisoft has officially released the first content drop for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla with the Yul Season Update that brings a new game mode, unlockables, and post-game enjoyment to the game. Here’s what you need to know.
If you’ve been looking for a reason to jump back into Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or perhaps are wondering what’s in that latest update, worry no longer as Ubisoft has revealed their latest free content drop for the critically-acclaimed title, which brings in a new game mode, Jomsviking upgrades, new abilities and upgrades, and two new buildings in the Settlement.
Players looking to unlock new buildings in the settlement with the River Raid Dock and the Jomsviking Hall. The River Raid Dock will take players into higher-stakes raids that come with their own unique maps and rewards. These raids can be completed without impacting a player’s progression in the main game or the alliances in England.
You can also meet with Jomsvikings, which are player-created Vikings online, and take them into battle with their own Jomsviking Lieutenant. You can also enjoy a new Longship can also be obtained through upgrades that are unlocked via the River Raids as well.
Those looking to upgrade the Josmviking Hall can enjoy three new levels to it in Season 1, which comes with a higher-ranked recruiting capability. The higher level the Hall, the higher-ranked Jomvikings it will attract for players to recruit. Each Jomsviking also comes with its own ranks and its ability to survive during River Raids.
In order to unlock the River Raids, you will need to first complete one of the following narrative arcs in England with either Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire, building their Barracks and recruit their Jomsviking Lieutenant. Once done there, you will encounter a new NPC named Vang and his crew of Jomsviking raiders, which will introduce players into this all-new gameplay mode.
You can also obtain the following pieces of content through the River Raids:
- The Saint George Armor set and Great Sword
- 3 new Abilities, hidden in monasteries
- 2 new Settlement Buildings
- A new set of longship and player cosmetics
Fans can enjoy the first piece of content in 2021 with all-new pieces of content coming throughout the year including new free content drops and Season Pass DLC. Season 2 is set to start in March 2021 with the first DLC, Wrath of the Druids, set to launch in Spring 2021.
