Bandai Namco’s highly-anticipated title, ELDEN RING, will release on January 21st, 2022 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. Bandai Namco has confirmed Smart Delivery for Xbox One and a free upgrade on PlayStation 5.
The long-awaited announcement for the release date for ELDEN RING is finally over as Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware Inc. have revealed that their next grand fantasy Action-RPG title will be coming to PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
Alongside the fact it will release on next-gen consoles, Bandai Namco has confirmed the title will support both Xbox’s Smart Delivery as well as a Free Upgrade for PlayStation 5 users who pick up a PlayStation 4 version of the game.
ELDEN RING will be the second major title since FromSoftware stepped away from the Bloodborne and Dark Souls franchises, giving fans a new experience to have, as well as a new world to explore. The title will, however, be using FromSoftware’s signature melee combat systems that will require players to adapt to new and inventive strategies as well as perfectly time every move they make.
The title comes from both the minds of Hidetaka Miyazaki – the creator of the Dark Souls franchise – and famed A Song of Ice and Fire writer, George R.R. Martin. The two have teamed up to create a meticulously woven and crafted story and world, giving players one that teems with blood, deception, and unexpected events that players will experience.
The creativity isn’t limited to just the type of enemies you will see, but also adversaries with in-depth backgrounds, fearsome creatures, and a cursed land willed with secrets and myths, just waiting to be unraveled.
The game will feature a natural weather system, time-of-day progression, and a world that ranges from lush forests, grass plains, to suffocating swamps only to ascend to the highest mountains and breathtaking castles. There will be plenty for players to explore when they aren’t customizing their character, equipment, and other options to help them match their characters to how they prefer to play.
ELDEN RING will encourage players to explore unique skills, armor sets, weapons, and magical abilities that players will find, wield, and weave into each and every encounter. Players will be able to take advantage of fierce battles by running headlong into them or sneaking through the shadows and using the game’s stealth systems to their advantage.

It’s clear that ELDEN RING will be one of the biggest adventures yet, combining elements of high fantasy and dark fantasy into one unique and beautiful setting, something FromSoftware has been known for thanks to their love for dark and fantastical settings. Something George R.R. Martin is no stranger to.
