In preparation for its release, fans have eagerly been awaiting the all-new franchise from Arkane Lyon, the minds behind Dishonored and Prey, unfortunately, the title has been hit with a second delay, pushing it back to September 14th, 2021.
There’s no surprise these days when you hear the word “delay”. The reason behind it varies. A lot of it though comes from the safety protocols surrounding game development in a world where COVID-19 is still running rampant. Deathloop happens to be its latest victim, seeing its second delay in less than a year.
It should come as no surprise that COVID-19 has made life a bit more difficult for every industry possible. Game development has been hit exceedingly hard with developers being unable to work at their stations in an office, allowing them to work cohesively in a single environment, but instead, this time, forcing them to work from home.
This is very much the case with the Lyon-based studio, which has found game development to be increasingly difficult for their most ambitious project yet, which would be their first next-gen exclusive. Well, timed-exclusive for PlayStation 5 fans in as confirmed back in December by Sony.
While it is disheartening to see delays hit titles such as Deathloop, it is nice to see teams taking the extra time to further develop their game, catching any and all bugs while they can, and ensuring a solid product is delivered when the game is shipped.
Deathloop will now launch on September 14th, 2021, exclusively for PC and PlayStation 5, with a unannounced release date for Xbox Series X|S.
