If you’ve been curious about jumping into the long-awaited sequel to Atelier Ryza, your wait is over, and it has gone next-gen with free PlayStation 5 upgrades. Here’s how it works.
While our review is currently in progress and hard at work, Koei Tecmo has been hard at work delivering some amazing news, which sees Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy getting a release on PlayStation 5 as a free upgrade to existing owners of the PlayStation 4 version of the game.
Koei Tecmo revealed that the transition will work seamlessly, allowing players to simply go to the PlayStation Store on their PlayStation 5 consoles, selecting the PlayStation 5 edition, and upgrading to it for free of charge. The launch of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game are ushered in alongside their PC and Nintendo Switch siblings.
In the latest adventure with Atelier Ryza, fans will join her three years after the events of Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & The Secret Hideout, and will find an all-new quest has been undertaken by her. The new story sees her joined by an all-new companion known as “Fi,” a little furry pal of hers who is adorable as much as they are enigmatic.
Her quest takes her to explore behind the ancient rins and find the truth behind the lost legends she has heard about. As new part of the gameplay, fans will find that Ryza can now swim underwater, use plants to climb walls, and even swing from a magical rope in order to explore the world about her in all-new ways.
The game also ushers in a new real-time tactics battle system that has been synthesized so that it can now support up to four party members (three main party members and a sub-member of the group), and the ability for characters to link multiple skills and items in a row in order to take down even the deadliest of foes.
Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
