While fans around the world geared up for Sony’s big reveal of the PlayStation 5, the company has announced they will be delaying the event for an undisclosed period of time in order to allow more important concerns to be voiced and heard by their fans.

If you were hoping for some better news this week, specifically on June 4th, then you may find that your entertainment and retreat into a small distraction to be disrupted as Sony has revealed that their PlayStation 5 reveal, has been delayed to an undisclosed date later this year.

The event was expected to finally reveal the console itself alongside a demonstration of some of its upcoming titles. Sony’s Jim Ryan has already seemed to hint at the company taking major losses on the overall console hardware, allowing the PlayStation 5, just like its predecessor, to be an affordable device that fans of all income ranges could easily access.

However, due to the renewed resistance to racial discrimination and mistreatment of black people in the United States. The company, in their statement, explained that they were excited to reveal the PlayStation 5 and its upcoming games to their fans, but they felt that the event would be ill-timed due to the current tensions that are striking the nation. Sony has made it clear, they want the voices of those affected heard, they want to let “more important voices be heard,” they revealed in their statement.

It’s a decision our team supports as they opt to support the Black Lives Matter movement. with many gaming events just days away, it makes us wonder if Sony will begin to send a resounding boom throughout the gaming industry, forcing other publishers, developers, and content organizers to follow in their stead. Sony has clearly shown, as we hoped they would, that they support players of all types of backgrounds.
