Since its launch Far Cry 5 has been considered the best titles in the franchise, selling double the copies of Far Cry 4 in a single week, making Far Cry 5 the fastest selling title in the franchise. Ubisoft has confirmed that digital sales have accounted for more than 50 percent of the titles total sales and has marked itself as the publishers second biggest title yet, leading the $310M sold in the first week to Tom Clancy’s The Division, which launched merely two years ago and is preparing for a follow-up title later in the upcoming days.

Along with being the franchises best seller and their second fastest selling game, UBisoft has also announced that Far Cry 5 has seen record-breaking numbers of players thanks to its Arcade Mode, which has seen more than 55,000 hours streamed on both Twitch and YouTube combined with more than 117 million views. Ubisoft has confirmed that this has helped the steady grow the Far Cry community since its launch.

Far Cry 5, like the real Montana, is a vast and gorgeous playground filled with colorful stories for players to enjoy and share,” Laurent Detoc, President of Ubisoft, Americas. “We’re grateful to newcomers and fans of the series who have joined us in Hope County and have collectively grown our community.

In Far Cry 5, players take on the role of a deputy sheriff who has joined a group of lawmen and law women as they are sent to bring Project Eden Gate leader Joseph Gates into custody for interrogation. Set in the fictional town of Hope County, Montana, players will explore the lands, stop the years-long silent coup that Project Eden Gate has been committing themselves to. During their time in Hope County, players will fight back, joining forces with residents of Hope County in hopes to overthrow Project Eden Gate.

I’m proud that the culmination of years of passionate work from the team is paying off, and that Far Cry 5’s experience resonates with so many people,” said Dan Hay, Executive Producer on Far Cry. “We are humbled by players’ reception of Far Cry 5 and fired up to keep growing and supporting the Far Cry community in the months and years to come.

Far Cry 5 is now available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Stay tuned for our review coming later this week.
