Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak’s recent digital event debuted new monsters, quests, and more

Capcom, Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, and director Yoshitake Suzuki, have revealed even more details about the upcoming release of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Here’s everything you need to know.

By now, any Monster Hunter Rise fan is probably as excited as they will get thanks to the new Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak reveals that occurred during the latest Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Digital Event. Series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Yoshitake Suzuki gave fans one of their biggest in-depth dives about the upcoming release since it was first announced.

The new all-digital event included our first look at the flagship Elder Dragon Malzeno, the new Switch Skill Swap ability, new Follower Quests, and three additional monsters, all of which will be available when Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak launches on June 30th, 2022, exclusively on PC via Steam and Nintendo Switch.

The latest digital event gave us our first look at the return of Seregios, a Flying Wyvern, who will be making a reappearance in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Players will have to stave off debuffs such as the “bleed” status in order to keep from being incapacated by Seregios’ attacks with its Bladescales that coat its body. However, this isn’t the only thing you have to worry about.

It’s also been revealed that returning monsters will also be receiving new abilities and behaviors when appearing in Master Rank quests. Two new subspecies have also been announced including the ice-imbued Somnacanth and even Magma Almudron. New screenshots from the recent Digital Event can be seen down below:

While those two can certainly deliver an icy, yet hot experience, Elder Dragon Malzeno is by far the worst of the three. This flying behemoth wields a mysterious swarm of parasitic entities that capture and then absorb the energy from those they choose as their prey. However, this is only as deceptive as it gets as the Elder Dragon Malzeno will also find its ferocity unmatched as it begins to engage in direct combat.

This all-new Elder Dragon wields the power of the all-new “bloodlight” status, which allows it to directly affect players and force them to stay alive, manage their equipment, and try to take out Elder Dragon Malzeno as quickly as they can. Of course, this vampiric like dragon isn’t as easy as it sounds. It has plenty of tricks under its wings for brave hunters to experience.

Other new features include all-new approaches to combat including new Switch Skills including the all-new Switch Skill Swap. This allows them to assign Switch Skills to two different loadouts and use them on the fly during a hunt. Yup, that’s right, TWO loadouts you can switch in and out during a hunt so that your equipment meets the needs of multiple targets.

Of course that’s not all, there’s plenty more for you to unlock as you play. You’ll find an all-new way to interact with your followers including new Follower Quests that will allow single player hunts that players will accept and complete quests for them as you explore the world around you. You’ll be able to join members of the Elgado including Fiorayne, Luchika, Jae, Admiral Galleus, and Master Arlow. Members of Kamura Village include Hinoa and Minoto, and plenty of others as they progress through the story.
