Earthlock 2 is officially on its way from independent development team Snowcastle Games as a follow-up to its 2016 predecessor, Earthlock. The new title will see a massive jump ahead of its predecessor both graphically and experience-wise.
Snowcastle Games has already revealed its massive step into the next generation of games as they have revealed that Earthlock 2 is currently in development for both current-gen consoles with a focus on next-gen platforms as well. To celebrate today’s announcement, the team has revealed that their 2016 classic, Earthlock, is also on sale at 80% off on Steam, the Nintendo eShop, and the Xbox Games Store for $5.89 USD.
Players will return to the focused planet of the Earthlock series, Umbra, which has stopped spinning on its access, causing the world to fall into darkness on one side and the other to be exposed to the dangers of constant sunlight. In the middle, there is an area that sees both night and day, having a chance to take advantage of the situation.
Snowcastle Games has revealed that the store will take place around a group of friends who must set out to find and rescue their missing family members while players enjoy an all-new experience through the power of Epic Games’ Unreal Engine. This time around, the gameplay won’t be in the style of 90s JRPG games, but rather, the modern take of open-world action RPG elements, allowing players to explore how they wish.
“We are so pleased to finally offer up this first tease of what players can come to expect in Earthlock 2,” said Bendik Stang, Game Director & Co-founder of Snowcastle Games. “We really want our next title to offer players a huge amount of replayability, customisation and depth, with incredible emergent gameplay possibilities. It’s been an exciting endeavour for us and we can’t wait to reveal more about the game in the future, please stay tuned!”
Currently, a release window has now been announced, but Earthlock 2 does seem to be on a steady course for release between now and 2021. Those wanting to keep up-to-date can sign up for the official Snowcastle Games newsletter to stay up-to-date regarding the upcoming title today or just simply add Earthlock 2 to your Steam wishlist starting now.
