Due to the COVID-19, for the first time in 25 years, QuakeCon will be held on a global scale from the safety of our very won homes. In order to help things become even more unique, Bethesda is bringing the fun to their fans, from the comfort of their living rooms.
Due to COVID-19, a lot of our favorite gaming events of the year have all but been canceled, postponed, or moved to an in-home experience for the safety of gamers from around the world. Due to the virus, Bethesda and their partners are holding the 25th Annual QuakeCon event from the safety of our very own home, with the ability to frag your friends or with them, bond with enthusiasts like yourself from around the world, and raise money to do a bit of good in the world.
The event will be taking place from August 7th to August 9th, 2020, filled with three days of livestreamed content, tournaments (gotta get those frags people!), charity fundraising, and plenty more, of course. Due to the inability to have the QuakeCon BYOC – the very heart of the QuakeCon event itself – is going virtual through Twitch using Twitch Teams to bring fans together through their favorite games.
The streams, of course, will take place as a central part of the QuakeCon at Home experience and will feature a weekend full of streamed content from around the globe starting Friday, August 7th, at 11:00 AM CST. The event will feature around-the-clock programming featuring special influencer streams, surprises, and their very own Community teams from all around the globe streaming from their own homes in support of charitable causes.
Bethesda will be announcing more information about the streams in the rather-near future.
In order to bring the BYOC to your home, a QuakeCon Twitch Team is being formed, allowing fans to play, share, and stream their games the way they would at QuakeCon’s annual BYOC directly from the comfort of their homes. The BYOC community can come together through the first-ever official QuakeCon at Home Twitch Team, giving the Quakecome at Home Twitch Team a chance to play, share games, and help raise money for official QuakeCon-supported charities.
Bethesda will be announcing more details on that here rather soon, so stay tuned to their official Twitter and Facebook pages for that information as it becomes available. Of course, we all know QuakeCon is known for its tournaments. It’s nothing without a day full of frags and prizes being handed out. The 2019-2020 Quake Pro League series will be concluding during the QuakeCon at Home event.
The top 24 players from around the globe will compete to win their share of the $150,000 prize pool for this year’s event. The super-event will have new information posted soon in regards to how fans can tune in to cheer on their favorite teams. You know what else is there? Charity initiatives. Something QuakeCon is renowned for, giving fans a chance to continue the legacy in both global and local ways.
So how can you do it? Tune into the QuakeCon at Home Twitch stream, donate, and see your proceeds go to groups including the Direct Relief, UNICEF, NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and The Trevor Project.
Animal charities, of course, are returning so fans can support the kitties and puppets of Dallas Pets Alive and FOUR PAWS animal organizations. Both being long-time partners with Dallas animal adoption’s being available through Dallas Pets Alive and FOUR PAWS being a global animal welfare organization.
