While COVID-19 is beginning to ramp up in the United States, many retailers have taken drastic measures to help slow the spread of COVID-19 by separating the launches of both Animal Crossing: New Horizons and DOOM Eternal.
As COVID-19 seems to be heating up in the United States, major video games and entertainment retailer, GameStop, has revealed that they have released DOOM Eternal as of today, giving fans a chance to get their copy a day early, but also, giving them a chance to avoid too many people in a single area at any given time.
While it seems hard to believe DOOM Eternal is seemingly breaking up once of the greatest meme-based friendships to date, GameStop is working to work the best they can with the CDCs recommended 50 or more people gatherings by branching the releases into two separate days versus having a crowd of people storming their stores for their games.
To ensure we adhere to CDC-recommended social distancing guidelines, we will be selling DOOM Eternal a day early on Thursday, 3/19 as a safety precaution for our customers and associates. Animal Crossing will release on Friday 3/20 to further help separate the crowds.

Unfortunately, not all GameStop shoppers are happy, many have already taken to social media to fume about the situation, including stores being open amidst a viral pandemic that is just beginning to cover all fifty states with some only seeing minor reported cases and others being hit rather hard.
So I couldn't resist jumping on the trend!
Here's a little quick painting I spent way too long on of Isabelle and Doom Slayer enjoying a vacation on New Horizon Island! ^^#art #Isabelle #AnimalCrossingNewHorizons #DoomEternal #doomslayer #fanart #idsoftware #nintendo #Bethesda pic.twitter.com/aK9ll56ctL

Regardless, GameStop is trying to bring fans some way to make it through the pandemic whether it’s your time spent with Tom Nook, Isabelle, or, well, the Doom Slayer himself.
