If you think what you have what it takes to survive in this free-for-all title where players can also take on the role of the Director, then you may want to give it a try, just remember not to freeze to death in the arena. So why not give it a whirl? It is free after all.

With more than 3.6 million players have entered the arena and braved the cold on both Steam Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, it’s time for the final release to hit those digital storefronts as Scavengers Studio has revealed their title The Darwin Project is now available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as a free-to-play title.

But, there’s more to it than just simply hacking, slashing, and pinning your foes down with your bow or ax. You will hack down trees to make equipment, gather Darwinian Cells to upgrade your gear, and you’ll even need to craft down tools, set traps, and even survive harsh environmental conditions that will see you free to death.

Oh, there’s also the Show Director who will dish out punishment and can support any of the combatants on the field. They can also shape the battle to whatever they want it to be. Think it’s gonna be a matter of hiding and surviving? They can single out a single player if they want, alter the battlefield to their liking or, you know, shape it to their content.

There’s also this thing where Streamers can enable that allows live viewers on Twitch to be able to bet on any competitor of their choice, allowing them to also help the Show Director choose targets on the arena for their arena-shaping powers. It’s basically them deciding what player they want to kill while also rooting for their very own contestant.

There’s also the new class system that gives players the ability to equip Jet Wings to out-maneuver their foes and deal death from above with a bow, the Grapple Gauntlet to quickly close the gap on your opponents, or the Headhunter Drone, which allows players to track targets of their bidding. It’s all really fun as each one also comes with two distinct alternative abilities that help them work their way to success.

You can download The Darwin Project for free on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One today.
