Announced today at an event in Paris, developer Focus Home Interactive has announced the follow-up title to The Surge, which launched last May for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The developer has announced that The Surge 2 will be releasing on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 next year.

During the reveal, developer Deck13 has also opened up about expanding on features from the previous titles. System’s such as the game’s “limb targeting”, will be expanded upon, allowing fans to damage enemy AI in ways never before seen. The studio has also announced that they will be working on better ways for players to preserve weapons and components through this system in order to enhance their own exosuits.

The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original, while also expanding greatly upon the formula. The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck13’s upgraded and improved engine.

Additionally, Deck13 has also promised that they will be bringing in more features such as new abilities, new implants and even drones for players to explore. However, at this time, Deck13 and Focus Home Interactive said they will disclose more information about their game later today and tomorrow during their event in Paris.

While we wait for that information, you can check out our review of The Surge: Complete Edition in the meantime.
