Dark Souls isn’t known just for its dark, gritty, and foreboding lands of Lordran. It’s known as the game that truly pushed the action-RPG mechanics that fans have come to know and love in the direction they have and has even helped re-define what games would strive to be. Today, Bandai Namco has announced that the fame Dark Souls title will be moving onto the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and the Nintendo Switch later this year.
For Xbox One X, PC and PlayStation 4 Pro users, the company has announced that the systems will feature Dynamic 4K resolution with HDR capabilities (4K Native for PC), offering the best Dark Souls experience to date. As part of the Dark Souls: Remastered experience, the company has also confirmed that these versions will see 60fps on consoles with PC aiming for higher framerates. However, Nintendo Switch fans will see the game running at 30fps in both handheld and docked modes with the resolution scaling at 1080p docked and 720p handheld.
Additionally, it has been confirmed that this version of the game will come with all previously released content, i.e. the Artorias of the Abyss DLC. In a statement, Kasumi Yogi, Associate Brand Manager for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. expressed their excitement about this upcoming release. You can see her statement below.
“DARK SOULS: REMASTERED delivers the same great gameplay, online mechanics, and environmental storytelling that has inspired countless game players and developers. We are excited to watch the thriving DARK SOULS community grow and support new players experiencing the title for the first time.”
DARK SOULS: REMASTERED will be available May 25, 2018 for the Nintendo Switch console, PlayStation 4 system, Xbox One and STEAM for PC. DARK SOULS: REMASTERED is currently pending a final rating with the ESRB and will carry an MSRP of $39.99 on consoles. However, it has been stated that the price could vary for PC owners. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about the final rating as well as the final cost of the game for Steam users.
