What do you do when you need some heavy hitters in a world that’s falling apart around your characters due to enemies that need those last few powerful hits? That’s where being armed to the teeth with high-tech rifles, deadly explosives and massive machinery doesn’t do the job just right. This is where players will be introduced to  using just bare fists and or using katanas in order to put enemies down. So who do you call in for this? S.E.A.L.E.D. team members Mana and George

So what’s special about these two? They are the overall heaviest hitters of S.E.A.L.E.D. and they seek to knock things down. With Mana Kawai on the tea, she loves all things cute, but when it comes down to it, she’s not scared to crack her knuckles, and go on full fisticuffs with the enemy when needed. Once enemies adjust to her brutal beatings, she just gets stronger from a distance by hurling debris and creating earthquakes in order to dispatch them.

On the flip side? Welcome in George Jackman, the teams hero minded character who loves to fight for the glory of freedom and justice, but also does this while displaying his bravery while doing so. While attacking, George can build up his damage through using his katana while building up his damage through the usage of psychometry. Will enemies be able to live through his relentless and brutal attacks? Doubtful.

Between both Mana and George, enemies will not be able to take on this rather deadly duo as they help S.E.A.L.E.D. team fight through the tower and investigate the traitors within their very own team. Could they possibly be the traitors within the team?

Lost Dimension is coming physically as well as digitally through PlayStation Network for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita on July 28th in North America and on August 28th! Stay tuned for our upcoming review!

So lest talk battle systems! Below is the official Battle Systems Tutorial presented by XSEED Games to help understand how they work as the game prepares for it’s launch!

Element Affinities, Weapons, and Attack Range

Featuring aspects of tactical role-playing games, Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven boasts a unique strategic battle system that encourages players to take careful aim with their attacks in order to “bowl” over as many enemies as possible with a single strike. Four main elements dominate this battle system, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. These are Flame, Frost, Heaven, and Earth. Alongside them stands a neutral non-element, Void, which has no strengths or weaknesses at all.

Players will form their battle party from up to four of the game’s eight characters, with each character possessing a particular elemental affinity as well as a character-specific weapon with its own unique attack range. Players must decide for themselves whom to include in their party for the ultimate combination of balance and power!

LoM_Beatrix

Here are a few brief details regarding each character’s elemental affinity, weapon, and attack range:

  • Luchs [Void affinity] – The game’s main protagonist and the only character with a default Void affinity, Luchs’ attack has an extremely small range, targeting only enemies directly in front of him. Luchs has very limited attack power, and is thus best suited to support skills.
  • Charlotte [Flame affinity] – High in physical attack power, Charlotte uses a close-range sword called “Flawless,” striking all enemies within a fan-shaped area directly in front of her.
  • Beatrix [Frost affinity] – Beatrix attacks from a distance with her bow gun, “Selbstgemachte Armbrust,” striking all enemies within a small circular area.
  • Elfriede [Earth affinity] – Elfriede attacks three times in succession with her machine gun, “OP4 Vulcan,” striking all enemies in a thin, U-shaped area.
  • Gabriele [Heaven affinity] – The only character with a default Heaven affinity, Gabriele’s attacks strike all enemies in a small, circular area directly in front of her. Her weapon is a chest called “Pandora’s Box,” and its contents can be seen by using her various skills.
  • Diana [Earth affinity] – Diana has good physical attack power, wielding a mid-range spear called “Kirin” to strike enemies directly in front of her.
  • Francesca [Flame affinity] – Francesca uses a pair of claws called the “Scar of God,” striking multiple times in a single turn. Like Charlotte, Francesca has high physical attack power.
  • Adelheid [Frost affinity] – Adelheid has high physical defense, and uses a shield called “Scutum Absolutae” to blow back enemies in close range.

Players can prepare their favorite party members for any battle situation by equipping them with special items called “Skill Chips” to change their default elemental affinities. As enemies also possess these specific elemental affinities, Skill Chips can be particularly useful for knocking down powerful foes!

LoM_Diana

Romance, HEART Events, and Special Skills

Each of the seven heroines have four unlockable special skills consisting of physical attacks, healing skills, and support skills which can be obtained by having Luchs spend time with them during downtime from battle. These “HEART Events,” part of Lord of Magna: Maiden Heaven’s relationship-building system, are all about getting to know the heroines personally. The more time that Luchs spends with a heroine, the greater the number of special skills that will be unlocked for both characters.

In order to use special skills, the player must build “Tension” during battle, which can be earned by defeating enemies. Using these special skills can also build Tension when enemies are defeated with them, and if a character can defeat 10 or more enemies in one turn, that character will earn a second turn with the option to use an additional special skill if enough Tension has been accrued.

Lost Dimension for PlayStation 3 and Vita Gets Dated and Bonus DLC for Free

LostD_Vita_Coversheet
Lost Dimension, maybe you’ve heard of it, and maybe you can’t. Developed by Lancarse and published by ATLUS, Lost Dimension has been given the street date of July 28th, 2015, and for two weeks after that date, both companies have announced that players will be able to download more than 20 USD worth of the DLC for free. What’s with this content? Well, the game has been excitedly received, and one that both companies are excited to see launch. What’s the free DLC? Lets take a look.
Free Promotional Content Includes:
  • 12 Free PlayStation Network Avatars (to represent 11 heroes and heroines in the game)
  • 9 in-game costumes
  • A map set that features additional story
  • 3 DLC Side-Quests to gain extra experience with

LostD_SC01

So what does that mean? The characters you play will get to have new costumes that vary in new ways in order to allow them to tactically, and lets put it blunt, kick ass in the world they are in. One includes Toya getting a dapper suit and Mana getting her superheroine outfit, but that’s not all it’s limited to. Anything in between is free game. Do note that the costumes are only cosmetic and do not provide a stat boost of any sort while on the battlefield, and that is where the game offers a lighthearted change of appearance, until of course it comes time to erase Kitty Marco from existence, as put by ATLUS.
Now lets take a look at these three extra quest missions to see exactly what they do! While they don’t provide much EXP or EN (EN is money in the game), players will also have a chance to unlock a specialized item for individual character bonuses if the missions are completed with an S-Rank rating. Do note, that these missions do come in different levels as explained to us by ATLUS:
  • The Emissary from the Netherworld: Moderately difficult
  • The Price of Blood: More difficult
  • Runaway Cause and Effect: Most difficult

Last, but not least, the additional map pack called “The Beginning of the End” is a story that runs separate from the main campaign and takes place in an entirely new location. With five missions in total, players will get to explore the creation of the game’s central Pillar, but also the story behind the heroes and heroines of the game.

All of the above DLC will be completely free for the two weeks following the game’s launch this summer. Along with the launch of the game, fans will be able to purchase additional paid items that will range from 49 cents to 99 cents, which will let them gain additional helper items. These items can be consumed by characters in order to help gain experience, money, and other stats with a passive boost before battle. Another batch of DLC that will be available will also range from 49 cents to 2.99 USD and will offer a chance to increase vision points and restore a characters SAN (sanity) stats. These items will typically help out when running through Judgement scenarios. The game is slated to launch on July 28th for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and VitaTV.
