Opinion: Destiny 2 can Learn from Tom Clancy’s The Division

At their core, both Destiny 2 and Tom Clancy’s The Division are hardcore shooters underneath the RPG and MMO elements. Both games are always online titles where players can group up in order to face down AI-controller enemies in cooperative play. Toss in the RPG bit where players are leveling up their characters and grinding for loot and you have the MMO-hybrids fans have come to know and play.
Before Destiny, There was Hellgate: London
If I were to talk about a first-person action-RPG with shooter elements, in a futuristic wasteland, that contained randomly generated maps and loot, along with six unique classes along with hundreds of hours worth the replayability, what game would you begin to think of? You would quite possibly swear the loot-grind filled titles I was talking about would either be Borderlands or Destiny.
Destiny 2’s Eververse isn’t a Problem, Here’s What Is

When you read about Destiny 2 as of late, the headlines are pretty similar. They all are stating that Destiny 2 is in a tough place. If you ask the fanbase, they’re pretty aware of the state it’s in and they’ve been extremely vocal about its current situation. One of their biggest concerns just happens to be the companies over-reliance of microtransactions and forcing them down the communities throats.
Destiny 2’s Upcoming Expansion The Curse of Osiris Revealed and Dated

If there is anything Destiny 2 has done better than its previous entry, it would have to be the depth of story it offers, and the history behind some of the most renowned guardians in the history of the Vanguard. While the expansion was announced shortly after launch due to a leak by Microsoft’s Xbox Marketplace, we knew the expansion was coming, but when was the largest question of them all.
No, Bungie is Not Banning Destiny 2 PC Players for Legitimate Programs

When Destiny 2 launched earlier this week on PC, it served as the first release for the series on PC after Destiny bounced right over PC, and served its delicious amount of cooperative play exclusively to console players. A few players, however, have stated they’ve been banned for using Overlays like framecounters or even programs that helped with their stream’s such as X-Split or another third party program. However, Bungie has come out and said that they disagree completely.
Bungie Has Taken Down Destiny 2’s Trials of the Nine for Now, Outlines PC Release

Trials of the Nine is the icing on the cake for Destiny 2 players whom like to take on extreme competitive play in order to unlock astonishing rewards, but that is changing according to a blog post by Bungie’s community manager Chris Shannon. In the post, Shannon has stated that Bungie has disabled Trials of the Nine for the next couple of weeks. The cause? A glitch that allows players to use the Monty Python-inspired Bureaucratic Walk and go outside of a maps boundaries.
Review: Destiny 2 – A Path That Was Tainted by Darkness

Pros:
+Social activities are an absolute highlight for the Destiny 2 experience
+Reward systems for all activities have been heavily upgraded since Destiny
+Guided Games make it absolutely fun to attempt Nightfall runs
+The reputation system has been restructured and offers more incentives to play
+More exotic quest lines, which is an absolute thrill to have
+Extremely smooth frame rates on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One
Cons:
-Raid Guided games is absolutely useless and broken
-Subclass talents have been completely restructured and restrict any and all customization
-Extremely short story… Still. Side quests attempt to save the day
[Editors Note: Our review has been updated to reflect that the connection errors have ceased since the recent hotfix]
Since the 2014 launch, Destiny has come a long way. Bungie should be proud that their MMOFPS has managed to do so. When the game first launched it was plagued with issues ranging from its short story, lack of content, and even a laughable reason as to why players should continue to play. Let alone was its DLC questionably short for the price, it didn’t provide fans with what they had hoped for, and left some – like myself – feeling betrayed by the staggering cost to continue playing and experience a story that made little-to-no sense.
