It’s official. The PlayStation 1 classics are coming back as Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX will bring the 1997 and 1999 titles, respectively, to Nintendo Switch and PC this December. Get ready fans, it’s about to be a magical winter.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Monster Rancher 1 & 2 is a big deal and to help celebrate it, Koei Tecmo has revealed that they are re-releasing the games on modern devices including Nintendo Switch, PC, and iOS on December 9th, 2021.
The games will have players raise their own monsters, train them, compete against one another, and discover the 100s of monsters that every Rancher would want around them. Of course, this means every monster is unique in their own skills, abilities, personalities, and play styles, making it so that anyone Rancher can find those that match themselves!
To help really bring in some new experiences, Koei Tecmo has revealed that Monster Hunter Rancher 1 & 2 DX will include new features such as a memo feature to use while raising monsters, rankings for random battles, and a high-speed mode for faster gameplay. There will also be some never-before-seen features such as additional save slots, Freeze slots, and a Monster Hall of Fame slot.
But you might be wondering: How do we get monsters from CDs? They all had unique IDs that would spawn a different monster when placed in the disc tray of a PlayStation 1. Well, don’t worry, this has been re-worked. Koei Tecmo has made it so you can search a database to find your desired CD and then generate a monster from its data. This includes a database of songs from around the world and allowing you to generate monsters from some of your favorite music and music you might not have ever expected to enjoy!
Stay tuned as we’ll keep you up-to-date as more information about Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX is made available from Koei Tecmo.
