Quake has arrived on consoles and PC with all-new features

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Quake, id Software, Nightdive Studios, and Bethesda have revealed that Quake has been re-released, but this time, on all modern-day consoles and on PC.

It should come as no big surprise that QuakeCon always has a little surprise up its sleeve. This year, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Quake, just as they did with DOOM, Bethesda and id Software had a surprise announcement. It comes with a re-release of Quake on modern-day consoles as well as an update on PC.

The new enhanced edition comes with a wide array of graphic options for console and PC users alike including the ability for anti-aliasing, enhanced lighting, gradient smoothing, and plenty more. Those on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 can also enjoy some console-exclusive features.

Those features include native 4K resolutions and 120 FPS. Those versions will be released soon as a free upgrade to those who purchased the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. You might be wondering though, is there more to it than that? Well, of course.

You can adapt the experience to your own through visual options available on all platforms, as stated previously, that included widescreen and 4K support, enhanced character models, dynamic and color lighting, anti-aliasing, depth of field, and of course, the original soundtrack and theme by Trent Reznor.

Bethesda has also revealed that the new re-release features a 4-player online split-screen co-op mode and the original complete, pure, and chaos-filled retro-style multiplayer with online 8-player support. To ensure players can get the best of the game, you can also play the game on dedicated servers for online matchmaking and take advantage of peer-to-peer support for custom matches.

Those who are wanting to enjoy their offline experience with just the story can do so with the original campaign and both expansions for Quake at no additional charge. That means the entire original campaign, “Dissolution of Eternity”, “The Scourge of Armagon,” and two expansions from the award-winning team at Machine Games: “Dimensions of the Past,” and the all-new “Dimension of the Machine.”

Quake is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for $9.99 USD. Those who own the game previously on Steam or Bethesda.net will get it at no additional charge. You can also download the free Quake 64 addon today at no additional charge.
