
After years in Early Access on Steam, Hanako: Honor & Blade will be heading to full release this Summer on PC via Steam. Here’s what to know.
After our interview with Matt of +Mpact Games in 2018, the small team has revealed that their upcoming title, Hanako: Honor & Blade will be heading into full launch following the games successful Early Access program and a MegaGrant awarded by Epic Games.
The passion project has been in development for over a decade by Matt Canei and his team, a symbolic tribute to Matt’s late mother who had passed away in 2002 after her battle against cancer. The game itself representing the everlasting struggle of life and death, embodied by the two warrior clans within the game. Hanako clan representing life as a representation of the spirit of Matt’s mother while the Yamai clan represents death and the opposition to life as the inherent embodiment of cancer and other diseases.
+Mpact Games, a small team of developers united to make a single game, today announced that Hanako: Honor & Blade, an immersive online multiplayer combat experience set in Feudal Japan, will launch on Steam for PC in summer 2021. The move to a full launch follows the game’s successful Early Access program and a MegaGrant awarded by Epic Games.
Each level of the game is designed to represent the unique obstacles and mechanics that require strategy, teamwork, and communication in order to defeat their enemies. The game laso features enviroments and destructible objectives that can be removed from play such as castle gates, meditation ritual sites to buff your team or debuff the enemy team, and dynamic environmental changes that take place over the course of the battle.
Combat can be enhanced by using Ki, allowing players to use special mechanics including blocking, sprinting, meditation, and class-specific skills that can be used. Players will also need to hone in on their precision and accuracy as they are vital parts of the combat flow, allowing players to engage inb oth ranged and close quarters combat through each scenario, and of course, allowing players to pick and choose what class they would like to use and one of the classes two styles of combat play.
