The Elder Scrolls Online gets Xbox Series S|X and PlayStation 5 enhancements on June 8th

If you’ve been wondering, not if, but when The Elder Scrolls Online would get the next-gen treatment, your wait is almost over as Bethesda and ZeniMax Online Studios have outlined the upcoming improvements to The Elder Scrolls Online.

As you prepare to take on the Prince of Destruction and his minions in the Blackwood Chapter, which the preview event is out right now, by the way, you can also expect some major changes to your experience. Those changes? Well, next-gen enhancements for those of you who managed to snag an Xbox Series X or a PlayStation 5 in recent days. You’ll be excited to hear that on June 8th, 2021, The Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced will be arriving on next-gen devices.

Bethesda and developer ZeniMax Online Studios have revealed that as players discover the truth behind the daedric plots occurring across Tamriel, they must also find their connection to the Prince of Destruction and what he has in store for Tamriel itself. As part of the Gates of Oblivion narrative, fans will get to experience the game in all-new ways.

The new chapter will usher in enhancements to graphics and framerate capabilities with two new modes: Performance and Fidelity. These modes are actually rather important as they’ll bring the game in as a visual delight thanks to the game being bumped to 60 FPS while in Performance Mode and 4K at 30 FPS in Fidelity Mode.

Along with graphical and performance enhancements, load times are another thing of – almost – the past. Players will find that load times have been decreased by half, making it so that they can run in and out of Tamriel without any major delays, allowing for deeper emersion. The enhancements don’t just stop there though. You can read the full list of upcoming changes on the official The Elder Scrolls Online website today.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced will also feature improved graphical capabilities including reflections, shadows, depth of field, ambient occlusion, space global illumination, along with updated antialiasing and unlocked textures. This means you’ll be getting a PC-like experience, without the need for a PC. Not a bad set of improvements for fans to enjoy. We sure will be!

The Elder Scrolls Online: Gates of Oblivion expansion is set to release on June 1st, 2021, for PC and Mac with a console release for PlayStation and Xbox families on June 8th, 2021.
