If there’s any game that most retro gamers know by heart, there’s no doubt that it’s Nickervision Studios’ Atari classic, Missle Command, which has received a neon-lit reimagining of the beloved classic, allowing fans to once more dive into what their classic title has to offer.
The newly reimagined Missile Command: Recharged is now available for Nintendo Switch. PC, Mac, and Linux, via Steam and an Epic Games Store release coming up soon. The game is based on the 1980 arcade classic, which makes the game both a visual eye candy as well as a delightfully difficult experience designed to challenge modern gamers and fans of the classic title alike.
The game features highly intense arcade action moments where players must defend their cities by shooting down an endless barrage of missiles from the sky, working against them as a counter-missile system of sorts. You’ll even get the chance to unlock powerups, giving players a critical edge during their most crucial moments, which will take players back to their fast-paced arcade glory days.
You can check out some of the key features of this newly-released version down below:
- Powered Up: Don’t just target missiles – take aim at all-new powerups to survive longer with defensive measures, missile speed boosts, or a screen-clearing special blast.
- Upgraded: The new powerup system takes points earned and allows them to be used to upgrade all aspects of gameplay to get an edge and achieve the highest scores.
- Shoot for the Clouds: Compete in global online leaderboards and aim to claim bragging rights as the top missile commander.
- Achievements (PC, iOS, Android): Better yourself with each game played and work towards besting the toughest challenges!
This newly released version of the 1980s classic can be purchased today for $2.99 on available platforms. Not a bad deal considering this is a timeless classic after all!
