FINAL FANTASY XIV’s Patch 5.25 ushers in new quest lines and Resistance Weapons


As the story for FINAL FANTASY XIV: Shadowbringers continues, players can dive into the latest storyline which features an all-new story from famed FINAL FANTASY Tactics and FINAL FANTASY XII writer, Yasumi Matsuno. Here’s everything you need to know about today’s update.

If you haven’t had a chance to log into the launcher or boot up your PlayStation 4, it’s time to do so as Square Enix has officially released Patch 5.25, titled ‘Save the Queen’, which features a brand-new quest series where brave Warriors of Darkness can adventure through, obtaining new powerful weapons and learn more about the Hrothgar Homeland.

In the quest series: “Save the Queen: Blades of Gunnhildr,” players will explore the Bozja Citadel through this all-new quest series, which will receive regular updates in future patches, allowing them to experience the new Resistance Weapon Quest Battles that consists of multiple boss fights as players progress and their progression is saved along the way.

The story is penned by the Return of Ivalice raid series writer, Yasumi Matsuno, who is known for his works on both FINAL FANTASY Tactics and FINAL FANTASY XII. The new update also features the new “Extreme” Difficulty Trial challenge, which sees a brave party of eight players take on the new challenging trial.

Crafters also have some new content to look forward to with the new “Skysteel Tools” questline, which allows Disciples of the Land and Hand to upgrade their Skysteel Tools to even more powerful heights. This content will also be patched over time. Along with today’s update is the Hatching-tide 2020 event, which ends on April 13th, 2020, which allows players to earn new costumes and new housing items.
