After having been all but a franchise that seemed as if it would be lost to time, A Way of the Samurai is back with the newly released KATANA KAMI for PC, PlayStation 4, and PC. Here’s what you need to know about this new release.
With a surprise release suddenly having happened, players will get the chance to dive straight back into A Way of the Samurai with this brand-new title, which explores a part of the franchise itself. The KATANA KAMI takes place during the Meiji Restoration period of Japan within the Rokkotsu Pass.
Here, the swordsmith Dojima falls into debt and in order to pay it, his daughter is taken as collateral to pay off his debt. In order to help repay the debt, players will craft swords by day and explore the mysterious and twisting dungeons of the Ipponmatsu Cave for its valuable resources at night.
Since this is a title within the A Way of the Samurai franchise, players can expect to hone their skills with over 100 different weapons and 9 unique fighting styles that allow players to fight however they wish to fight. You can also take on the ability to bring others with you, allowing for some astonishing cooperative-play action as you tear through randomly-generated dungeons during your time as Dojima.
Just don’t forget, your actions carry weight to them. This means you must align yourself with some, betray others, or maintain neutrality as you deal with each of Rokkotsu PAsses factions. You’ll even encounter some familiar faces along the way.
To celebrate the release, Spike Chunsoft, Inc., has revealed that during the first week of release, Nintendo Switch and PC fans can save 10% on the game and even obtain some free DLC along the way, which includes two weapon sets to enjoy. You can check them out down below along with various screenshots of the game:
Five Famous Swords Set: Dojigiri Yasutsuna, Nagasone Kotetsu, Heshikiri, Bizen Osafune Nagamitsu, and Fudo Masamune. This DLC comes with the blueprint for each of the weapons.
