After a horrible and questionable character design on the behalf of Sonic the Hedgehog’s appearance, it seems that Jeff Fowler, Paramount, and SEGA are redesigning our little blue pal ahead of the movies upcoming release.
If you’ve ever felt like your childhood has been violated, that Sonic the Hedgehog trailer could have been a big part of why. After the trailer’s release this past weekend, fans around the world were horrified by the design choices made, which caused Sonic to look less like Sonic the Hedgehog and a cosplay went horribly wrong.
It even went as far as fans of the Blue Blur had even gone as far as to decry this version of Sonic himself. Many pointing out that there’s no resemblance outside of the hair and fur color that even resembles that of his original designs fans had come to know and love for 28 years.
Now, however, it seems that the fans have spoken as movie director Jeff Fowler who will be making his Hollywood debut with Sonic the Hedgehog has assured fans that their concerns have been heard. So much so that the studio will be revisiting the official character design for Sonic the Hedgehog ahead of the movies release into theaters this November stating that, “Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear… you aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be,” Fowler stated in a Twitter post.
While this does seem they are trying to win fans over, we’ll have to wait to and see what kind of redesign he gets, but it looks like it is happening due to feedback from Sonic the Hedgehog fans.

Well done for listening to fan feedback (unlike other directors). Thing is that redoing CGI is expensive. Might be a bad idea for a film I don’t see doing well at the box office.
