In a surprise announcement, Microsoft and 343 Industries have officially revealed that Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo: Reach are coming to PC later this year. Here’s the lowdown on that announcement.

Since – we don’t know – the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection, die-hard fans have eagerly been awaiting the launch of a PC version of the collection itself, which launched almost side-by-side with the Xbox One oh-so-many years ago.

During that period, fans have also requested time and time again that they get their hands on Halo: Reach, one of the most beloved entries of them all. As part of their ongoing support for the game, 343 Industries’ Brian Jarrard has indicated during today’s Inside Xbox that Halo: Reach will be getting the same treatment as its predecessors.

The treatment includes 4K resolutions, HDR graphics, and a bump to 60 fps from its original 30 fps lock. But there’s a catch on how you will obtain Halo: Reach, which will include Forge World, Theater, free of charge with Halo: Reach‘s campaign and Firefight experience will be offered together as a premium DLC. Additionally, those who own an Xbox Game Pass membership, will get it free as part of their subscription and as long as they keep it active.

Along with the announcement, Microsoft has confirmed that Halo: Reach will be the first of the games to land on PC as they will be following the series in its chronological order (Halo: ReachHalo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, etc) on both Steam and the Microsoft store later this year.

While Halo: The Master Chief Collection was off to a rough start, we did opt to review the collection after this year’s major patch which overhauled the collection as well as improved matchmaking features and even added in other features such as Xbox One X support, community events, seasonal playlists, and brand-new skulls to use.

Stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated regarding today’s announcement. Our review will be updated to reflect the upcoming launch of Halo: Reach and the PC version of the collection.
