Earlier today, Twitch announced their Free Games with Prime, something reminiscent to that of Sony’s PlayStation Plus program and Microsoft’s Xbox Games with Gold, which grants users free games once a month at the beginning of every month. In their announcement, Twitch fully unveiled their first five games including the rather quirky first-person shooter Superhot and Oxenfree among several others for this month with a full outline of upcoming titles for next month.
Oddly enough, unlike Games with Gold or PlayStation Plus, Twitch’s Free Games with Prime program isn’t just a something to bat your eyelashes at. They’re offering a solid line-up of indie titles, they’re not backing down from ensuring that fans will applaud their line-up’s and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Twitch adding in some triple-A titles in the upcoming months. However, before we get too far, let’s take a look at the games for March and April.
The full lineup of Free Games with Prime for March includes:
- Superhot
- Oxenfree
- Shadow Tactics
- Tales from Candlekeep
- Mr. Shifty
The next set of Free Games with Prime will be available starting April 1, 2018, and includes:
- Tales from the Borderlands
- SteamWorld Dig 2
- Kingsway
- Tokyo 42
- Dubwars
While many of the games in the line-up, as stated previously, are currently indie games, there’s a lot of hope we’ll see bigger titles joining the line-up further down the road. After all, Twitch hasn’t been backing down from being the “place to go” when streaming or gaming by any means.
Since August 2017, Twitch has been hard at work giving users a reason to launch their dedicated Desktop App, which users can download directly from Twitch’s website. Through the app, players can download their free Twitch games, watch their favorite streamers, and even interact with the communities that they enjoy.
