Gigantic, a hero-class based shooter turned MOBA by developer Motiga Games is shutting down this July. The studio announced that the latest update, which was released back in January, will serve as the games final content update. This news comes shortly after Motiga suffered major layoffs when their parent company Perfect World Entertainment closed major chunks of their gaming division, even closing Torchlight developer Runic Games.

But the news only comes shortly after the independent studio suffered massive layoffs when their parent company Perfect World shuttered parts of their gaming division. Unfortunately for Motiga, they barely survived an inevitable closure, finding only a small bit of reluctance to continue on after having lost a majority of their staff.

Sadly, the team has confirmed that the writing on the wall had been there for quite soem time, but they were unsure when the time would come. The blog post has even stated that both Motiga and Perfect World have attempted to sustain Gigantic before today’s announcement, but have come to the conclusion hat they can’t sustain the game in its current state.

Because of the trouble the game is in, they don’t see any further options available to them in order to “progress and relevant content updates, and delivering basic features while also fixing long-standing issues was more complicated than expected. Despite our best efforts, we were unable to find an impactful solution that would help Gigantic break through in a crowded market.

Even with the game in its current state and the doors shutting, Motiga has announced that until the game closes, the shop will remain open and all items will be available at discounted prices. Unfortunately, this doesn’t change the fact that Gigantic is shutting down after less than a year since its full launch in July of 2017.

This news comes shortly after Epic Games announced the closure of their Tripe-A MOBA title Paragon, which is shutting down this April.
