How do you introduce a game that has been a centrifuge to your entire history in gaming, but also one of the very first games you were introduced to thanks to the Nintendo Entertainment System? When I was almost one years old, my father handed me one of the greatest single games of all times, and this is simply one that would become a significant name in the history of gaming. As of this past week a committee of journalists, scholars, and even video game industry members have inducted this long running series into the new World Video Game Hall of Fame in the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. The original game for the Nintendo Entertainment System is one of six inductees in this inaugural class.

With this induction, The World Video Game Hall of Fame has recognized electronic games that meet their criteria’s based on icon-status, longevity, geographical reach and influence within the industry. Starting in 1985, Super Mario Bros. has become one of the most well known, and most recognized as well as best-selling games of all time. Super Mario Bros. has sold more than 40 million units worldwide and has become one of the most recognizable titles thanks to its casts such as Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Toad and more. As of this year, 30 years Nintendo has begun to celebrate the games 30th anniversary of their longest running franchise next to “The Legend of Zelda”. To evolve the series like never before, Nintendo is launching Mario Maker, which will feature layouts using the first four games, and will allow players to make their own variations of each or a completely new game they wish to craft based upon their own experience.

You’re probably familiar with our friends over at XSEED Games by now, and how excited we can be when it comes to hearing about new titles being published by them. This week brings the news of two new installments to two rather well known titles by the names of Corpse Party: Blood Drive and Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space. When it comes to Corpse Party, many will know that this series is long running, dark, and ever-more-so enjoyable title. Corpse Party: Blood Drive will be taking the spot as the third and final installment in the series known as the “Heavenly Host Elementary” chapter, which will bring in the visual novel-style horror adventure series to life once more, this time the latest entry in the series will release for the PlayStation Vita in North America for the first time ever in the series’ history, and will be released with a special “Everafter Edition”, which will contain two-discs of compiled songs from the trilogy so that fans may enjoy the music that they’ve enjoyed across multiple titles. Fans will also get a unique art book called “The Dying Art”, which will feature some of the art from the series.

We’re confident in saying that we’re just as thrilled to be making this announcement as North American Corpse Party fans will be when they find out that Blood Drive will be getting a physical release,” said Executive Vice President Ken Berry at Marvelous USA. “We’re also incredibly excited to be publishing an Earth Defense Forcetitle for the first time—one which has never been released on these shores previously, yet is widely regarded as the series’ best.

From here, we will let our friends over at XSEED Games introduce you to these two upcoming titles.

Corpse Party: Blood Drive

The final installment of the supernatural story that began with Corpse Party and continued in Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, Corpse Party: Blood Drive ups the ante by allowing players to explore Heavenly Host Elementary in full 3D for the first time, with all of its formerly 2D environments meticulously recreated and greatly expanded. New gameplay systems provide more exciting interactions for players experiencing the gruesome finale to this tale of an inescapable, otherworldly school populated by vengeful spirits, including a dynamic lighting system aided by an in-game flashlight, talismans to protect the player characters from danger, deadly traps to disarm, cabinets to hide in, a stamina system that allows for limited dashing, and much more.

Furthermore, Blood Drive — once again presented with the original Japanese voiceovers for authenticity — features the return of previously offered gameplay elements such as binaural 3D audio for simulated surround sound and the screen-altering “Darkening” system, as well as bonus unlockables such as voice actor interviews, art, music, and more. Boasting 11 huge story chapters and 8 supplemental “Extra Chapters,” Blood Drive caps off the Heavenly Host storyline in a big way, providing answers and shocking twists in equal measure.

Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space

Standing as a direct predecessor to the series’ first North American release (Earth Defense Force 2017, known asEarth Defense Force 3 in Japan), and widely regarded by fans as the best entry in the franchise, Earth Defense Force 2 is making its way to the western hemisphere for the very first time with this greatly expanded remake. InEarth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space, players will take the role of one of three distinct military classes and fend off hordes of invading giant insects from a third-person perspective by way of conventional weaponry, armored vehicles, jetpacks, air strikes, trip mines, energy weapons, and more.

Originally released in Japan and Europe for the PlayStation®2 system and later making its way to the PlayStation®Portable system, this definitive version of the game will arrive in North America for the PS Vita with a number of improvements and additions helmed by the original developers at Sandlot, including up to four-player online co-op, an entirely new Air Raider class, and a new English dub.

Developed by Sandlot and published by XSEED Games, Earth Defense Force 2: Invaders From Planet Space will launch this fall in North America exclusively for the PS Vita, both in a physical release package and digitally via PlayStation®Store. This title has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

In this version, players will get to experience a new detailed customization mode, new battle systems from Samurai Warriors 4, but also a Challenge Mode, which will test the players speed, efficiency and even their precise deadliness while taking on enemy hordes.

Nobunagas_Ambition_Nobunaga_Oda_(Old)

As of today, Koei Tecmo America has announced the pre-order bonus content that will become available when this strategy/historical simulation title launches. The game will be launching exclusively on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and windows PC via Steam. When will the game launch? September 1st, 2015. For those who pre-order the title, they will find two new game scenario’s to be available when the game launches. One of the scenario’s is being called “Rise of the God of War”, which tells the tale of Kagetora Nagao, whom many may know as the fourt son of Tamekage Nagao, whom replaces his weaker brother as head of the Nagao clan, and proves his capabilities as a commander by becoming recnognized as a young, inexperienced, and much more superior leader. For many, this is the story for the origin of Kenshin, the general who becomes known as Japan’s “God of War”.

For those who pre-order, the second scenario is known as “Oda- Tokugawa Alliance” which tells the tale of two young men. However, before detailing the information, this content is only available for pre-orders through Amazon and Best Buy, which will unlock the tale of Takechiyo Matsudaira and Kipposhi, both having grown up as two rather significant figures of their time within Japan’s history, ones that worked alongside famed leaders Ieyasu Tokugaway and Nobunaga Oda. This scenario details their time growing up together, but also the strength of their alliance as well as their friendship.

The game is set to tell the story of a fragmented nation, one that has players take the mantle of a Daimyo, and a feudal lord of the Sengoku Era that took place between the 15th and 16th century of Japan. It will also put players to fight on for the great ideal of uniting the war-ridden country under the rule of one, but also allow players to become Shogun.

Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb to Co-Host E3 Pre and Post Shows

Adam_Sessler_Morgan_Webb

If there is two journalists in the gaming industry I’ve ever had more respect for than any other out there the names are Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb who were the hosts of G4TV’s most renowned video game show called “X-Play”. It’s where Adam and Morgan became some of the most listened to and watched journalists in the industry, a place where they gave insight to upcoming games, but also feedback regarding what they believe the games would be like, and honestly? They were right quite a bit. For the first time since G4TV was retired back in 2012 to become Esquire, Adam Sessler will be reuniting for the first time in several years to co-host the live shows prior to and following the Bethesda E3 2015 Showcase. Starting at 6:45pm PDT on June 14th, fans can tune in to watching these two amazing hosts as they go live at the backstage of the Dolby Theatre, while giving fans exclusive interviews from behind-the-scenes. Where can you watch these two though? If you aren’t there watching them live, you can head over to Bethesda’s Twitch and YouTube channels and tune in to see what’s going down live. They will also be discussing their thoughts, insights, and even discussing topics regarding some of Bethesda’s most renowned Developers in interviews.

Not familiar with Adam Sessler? Last year I was lucky to have the fortunate chance to meet this astonishing man who has become one of the best-known personalities in video gaming, but also for his exciting approach to reporting on games, but also his unique talents as a producer, editor-in-chief, but also well spoken personality within the gaming industry. During his time at G5tv, a long 15 years co-hosting X-Play, Adam stayed with the project from its inception to its untimely end. There he acted as G4’s editor-in-chief for video game content and continued on his career as Revision3 Games’ editor-in-chief, but also their producer.

I am thrilled to be reunited with Morgan Webb again and coming together for Bethesda’s first-ever E3 Showcase makes it that much better,” said Sessler. “Over the years the talent and games from Bethesda’s studios have always been a point of admiration, and my excitement couldn’t be more palpable. Seriously, my scalp is tingling.”

For those unfamiliar with Morgan Webb co-hosted G4’s show X-Play with Adam. She was also a host for G4 Underground and even penned the Tips From the Gaming Goddess column for FHM Magazine. Which brings her voice as a unique place in the industry and makes her one of the most unique personalities in the gaming industry.

I’m looking forward to that moment when Adam and I get to sit down with Bethesda’s developers right after the show wraps,” said Webb. “We know we’re going to see some big reveals at the Showcase, and we will be there to make sure the fans get all the information they’re craving. We’d love the fans to get involved in the conference via Twitter and Twitch, so we can take their questions straight to the people behind the games they love.”

Fans can join the conversation on Bethesda Softworks’ Twitter (@Bethblog) and in the Twitch chat stream during the Showcase by using the official Bethesda E3 hashtag: #BE3. Adam and Morgan will ask viewer questions to developers live during the post-show, with cool prize giveaways for anyone whose tweet is called out.

The pre and post-Showcase can be watched live on Twitch.TV/Bethesda and YouTube.com/BethesdaSoftworks.
