Frank Pritchard Returns to Deus Ex in DLC1: System Rift

dxmd-still-2

Being augmented is a problem in Deus Ex: Manking Divided. It is what causes you to become segregated from the rest of the people who remain untouched by technological advances. They call themselves “Pure”. They remain untainted in their eyes while “Aug’s” are considered dirty, unclean, and a threat to humanity as a whole. At the height of this issue comes a new story, one that introduces a fan favorite cast member by the name of Frank Pritchard – Adam’s friend and former colleague at Sarif Industries in Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

In this downloaded content, which is the first story DLC, Adam Jensen finds himself once more teaming up with his former colleague in order to hunt down a group only known as the Santeau Group. Desperate for information, Pritchard reaches out to Jensen letting, leading him to a target a secure data bank covered known as the Palisade Blade. In agreeing to help him, Adam also may uncover hints as to whom the elusive Illuminati really are.

Ghost Recon Phantom’s Prepares to Shut Down

ghost_recon_Phantoms

Originally having launched on August 15, 2012, Ubisoft has now announced that their free-to-play title Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Phantoms will be shutting down starting December 1st. Ubisoft has decided to do this after seeing that the game wasn’t performing as expected This puts it in a tough place among recently shut down games such as Square Enix’s title Nosgoth, which was well received by players.

After more than four years of battles, fights, deaths and a lot of fun, we have made the difficult decision to close Ghost Recon Phantoms. It’s a tough day for our studio and indeed the team, some of whom have been working on this project since its inception some 7 years ago,” writes Ubisoft in their statement, which is grim, and painful to see as the nails in the coffin have finally begun to be hammered into place. They go on to state that players will not be issued refunds for any items purchased during the games four year life, and will leave players with lost credit depending on what they spent.

ghost_recon_Phantoms1

Ubisoft goes on to state that they will be bringing this game to an end, but not an end to the developers on the team. Instead they have all been reassigned within Ubisoft itself and will place them into new projects. The downside? The game would have had a great chance on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as the fans have openly supported the free-to-play game market quite well.

If you have played the title, what are your thoughts in regards to this shut down? Are in in support of the action? Are you prepared to part ways, or do you hope to see them bring it over to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at later dates?

Dark Souls III’s Frist DLC Ashes of Ariandel Announced While Outlining Other DLC Plans

DSIII_AoA_Knight_With_Weapon_1

Dark Souls III has been a game that continues to separate itself apart from the rest of the genre. From its twisted landscapes, Lovecraftian styled enemies, unique combat style, and difficulty – Dark Souls III still remains a truly alive title for it sfans. Announced for its upcoming release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam, Ashes of Ariandel will expand the already existing story for the Dark Souls III storyline.

With Ariandel being as hidden as it is, the land has been defiled, darkened, and it’s the players goal to seek out the cause for this. Players will explore a new landscape never before seen where they will find new weapons, armor sets, and even magic to use. Players will also, for the first time, have a rather new take on the games rather popular competitive PvP mode that’s embedded into the title.

DARK SOULS III: Ashes of Ariandel continues FromSoftware’s track record of providing best-in-class post game downloadable content support,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing for BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “With hours of new challenges, new bosses, new mysterious locations to explore, new items to obtain, and new ways to challenge other players online, it’s the perfect time to jump back into one of the best games of 2016.

Ashes of Ariandel is set to release as the first major DLC for Dark Souls III on October 25th, 2016. For non-Season Pass owners, the DLC will run $14.99 USD while the Season Pass itself runs $24.99 USD for all platforms a second DLC is also slated for an early 2017 release. Stay tuned for our upcoming review.

Your PlayStation Plus Subscription is About to Go Up in Price this September

If you haven’t already gotten the email from Sony’s PlayStation service, prepare to. Earlier this afternoon in our inbox for Blast Away the Game Review, we were welcomed with the sight of the cost of PlayStation Plus starting this September, and sadly it places it on par with Xbox Live. Something that Sony had been known for combating against in order for their fans to enjoy their service, but also to enjoy their games.

So what did the lovely email we get say? Here’s the screenshot from the Blast Away the Game Review inbox.

PlayStation_Plus_Email

For those enjoying the original costs, it’s unfortunate to see the price hike as PlayStation Plus was known for its affordability at $49.99 USD. Though we can only guess this means that the future console updates will be offering new content, better free games, and even more services in the future as VR games come to fruition starting this fall.

Will you be staying subscribed with the price jump or will you be cancelling your subscriptions? Let us know through the comments here on our website or our social media pages!

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse Gets a New Little Trailer Showing Combat Mechanics

4

The world has begun to end as the Angels and Demon’s waged war within Tokyo. Doing so brought forth the apocalypse that the Samurai from Shin Megami Tensei IV tried to end with his valiant team. For those within this games world death is something that comes easy, one that forces survivors (the players team) to formulate strategies, to plan for combat, and to fight for survival. With demon’s now crawling through Tokyo in mass numbers, it’s time for players to fight back using the games “Strike First” mechanic, which allows players to land a preemptive strike in order to initiate combat. This strike? Can lean the game in the players favor.

If landing a first strike isn’t the first thing you do, exploiting a enemies weakness just might be the most important thing while on an offense. With attacks ranging from physical, gun, fire, ice, electric, force, light, and dark – you’ll need to be prepared to shut down enemies with their weakness. This opens up the chance to deal massive amounts of damage in a single blow, but for those that think a good defense is a great offense, you’re in the right spot.

5

Buffs are highly important in the SMT world, this means a sure way to the “Victory Screen” is by using the proper buffs in order to boost damage, boost defense, and even debuff the enemy so that they are weaker; they’ll also be more susceptible to damage because of those debuffs. Another important factor comes in two steps. Don’t panic. This means take a step back, watch what demon’s do, but also prepare to use the right partners so that you can pack a punch with powerful characters such as Gaston. If you need a bit of firepower? Nozomi might be your partner of choice to pack an extra ranged ammunition.

You can see all this in action in the games trailer below:

Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse is set to launch exclusively on the  Nintendo 3DS on September 20th, 2016. The title will cost $49.99 USD on launch day. Stay tuned for our review.
