Outriders has more than 3.5 million players a month after release reports Square Enix

OUTRIDERS has been exceeding all expectations since its launch and has even been poised to become one of Square Enix’s strongest selling all-new IPs of recent times.

For us, OUTRIDERS sits in an interesting place. It’s a game that we’re still working on our review for as we’ve decided to take our time, see where the game heads, and treat it as a title with a lot going on under the hood, mostly like we do with Destiny or even Diablo.

It’s just the way things go. However, there’s something interesting here: OUTRIDERS is doing really well. It’s already poised to become one of Square Enix’s best-new IPs and it’s doing so in staggering fashion. It has over 3.5 million players in its first month that have averaged over 30 hours of gameplay.

This means it’s not just because of Xbox Game Pass that it’s doing well. It’s doing rather well due to very dedicated fans who are still scrambling across the unforgiving world of Enoch and they are taking on enemy Altered’s and the natural threats that await them.

“With over 3.5 million unique players, average playtimes of over 30 hours and extremely high engagement for co-operative play, we and the amazing team at People Can Fly are so excited with this initial success,” explains Jon Brooke, Co-Head of Studio at Square Enix External Studios.

With cross-play features, the game does feature some magnificent experiences and it does allow for a much larger and more involved community, allowing this to be their first new IP that just blows expectations.

“Launching a new game IP is never easy and we remain very grateful for the community’s support and feedback – we continue to listen carefully and want to assure everyone that we are committed to improving and enhancing the experience in the coming weeks and months. We also look forward to expanding on OUTRIDERS in the future,” says Brooke in regards to OUTRIDERS being a brand-new IP.

However, that doesn’t mean everything has been smooth sailing since its release. PlayStation users on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 were hit with a few bugs that made it almost impossible for them to get into the game, keep their inventories, or even explore Enoch how they wanted.

Fortunately, there have been a few patches to help alleviate some of those issues and let fans explore OUTRIDERS in a magnificent fashion. If you haven’t already, you should give OUTRIDERS a shot and see what all the talk is about.

OUTRIDERS launched on April 1, 2021, and is available now on PlayStation®5; PlayStation®4; Xbox Series X|S; Xbox One; Steam, Epic Games Store and GeForce NOW on PC; and Google Stadia.

  1. This is not correct, most players have left the game due to bad programming, server disconnect, terrible endgame and character deletion.
The community is not pleased with the game at all, as you can read in the steam discussions.
