Commander Shepard, Garrus, and Tali are coming back for another massive adventure on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S in the Spring of 2021. BioWare has also teased a new Mass Effect title.
As they celebrate N7 Day, BioWare has already begun to take steps in bringing the franchise into the next-generation of gaming, giving fans a chance to experience what helped fans fall in-love with the series all-over-again.
To celebrate N7 Day 2020, BioWare’s VP and Studio GM, Casey Hudson, has revealed that Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 will be launching exclusively on next-gen consoles with the release of the Mass Effect Legendary Edition in Spring 2021.
In Hudson’s surprise BioWare Blog Post, he confirmed that all the DLC aspects of the single-player experience will be available, except, the multiplayer portions will be removed from the overall experience. All three games, including all their DLC, promotional contents, have all been remastered and optimized in 4K Ultra HD along with performance enhancements that have been made.
“Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form. It’s been amazing to see the adventures of Commander Shepard take on new life in super-sharp resolution, faster framerates, and beautiful visual enhancements.
As game developers, we always hope that our games will transcend their original platforms. Having the opportunity to remaster the trilogy means that the fruits of a decade of our work will live on, and will be experienced better and clearer than ever before,” Hudson explains in the blog post.
His stance on keeping the games as original as possible remains, making it so fans can experience the adventures they had without the need for overall remakes.
The news of the Legendary Edition isn’t alone, however, as Hudson has also teased the next edition in the franchise, “Meanwhile here at BioWare, a veteran team has been hard at work envisioning the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe. We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next.”

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is expected to launch in Spring 2021. We’ll keep you updated as more information is released.
