Ubisoft has confirmed that their free-to-play title, Hyper Scape, is currently in development, and Twitch Drops will give fans a chance to participate in the Technical Test today through July 7th, 2020. Here’s everything we know.

Recently, we’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about Ubisoft having begun work on a free-to-play fast-paced urban battle royale title from famed studio Ubisoft Montreal. Now, as of today, Ubisoft has confirmed the title is in development and that a limited-time PC technical test has begun across many territories including North America and Europe.

Interested players can tune in to qualifying streamers with Twitch Drops enabled including CovertGGMissClick_LIVE, and quite a few others. The Limited Time test will be available from today until July 7th, 2020. The test will let players try out features including Hacks, abilities, and loot pick-ups. The ability to heal your squad, produce a big wall, or even going stealth is completely viable options that will be available to players.

Hyper Scape will allow players to take part in three-player squad matches and solo play, allowing them to explore the futuristic virtual city of Neo-Arcadia while they move across rooftops, narrow streets, and deadly interiors, using these to create lethal ambushes, “All Hacks and weapons can be upgraded through the Fusion mechanic to produce more powerful iterations of the pre-existing item,” explains Ubisoft in the official press release.

“Players have two different ways to claim victory, either by picking up and carrying the crown for 45 seconds or by being the last player or squad standing,” they continue to explain, “Hyper Scape is fun to play and rewarding to watch. Developed in partnership with Twitch, the Hyper Scape Crowncast Twitch extension will entertain viewers by letting them impact the game in real-time, creating unprecedented interaction between streamers and their fans. Viewers will also have a real-time impact on the battle by voting on events that affect all contenders within a match, such as low gravity or infinite ammo.”

“We’ve built something really unique and fresh by streamlining the experience to focus on fun and intensity. We’re really excited to let players have a try at it right away and we can’t wait to hear what they think of it,” said Graeme Jennings, Senior Producer on Hyper Scape at Ubisoft Montreal. “But this is just the start. Hyper Scape is a universe that is built to grow, and our players will see the beginnings of that even during our technical test.”

In just our initial viewing of the game, we can’t deny, what we’ve seen is absolutely amazing and it does seem that Hyper Scape could very well change how we experience and play Battle Royale titles.

“What makes Twitch so unique is the real-time engagement between our streamers and their fans. While traditionally this kind of interaction has been about commenting on gameplay, Hyper Scape transports viewers into the game themselves, to serve as active participants,” said Sharmeen Browarek Chapp, VP of community product at Twitch. “The fact that fans can now directly impact what’s happening in the game creates an entirely new experience. We’re thrilled to partner with Ubisoft on this and cannot wait to show our communities what else we have in store for them!”

Ubisoft has confirmed that Hyper Scape will have a Battle Pass and those who participate in the Technical Tests will keep their earnings from the free 10-tier battle pass and well, progress with them moving forward.
