Square Enix has revealed a minor delay for the Final Fantasy VII Remake, using the extra time for a bit more polish to ensure that the game meets both fan and developer expectations.

In an official announcement released just recently, Square Enix has made it official that the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake has been delayed by a couple of weeks, allowing the team to take the extra time to give the game a bit more polish ahead of its release, allowing them to move the release date from March 20th, 2020, to April 10th, 2020.

Final Fantasy VII Remake isn’t the only game to be hit with a delay as CD Projekt RED recently revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 has been delayed from its initial release date of April 16th, 2020, all the way into September of 2020. In an official statement, Square Enix has outlined that the team made the “tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience,” states project producer Yoshinori Kitase in the official statement.

While the game has been seen in a rather playable state, there does seem to be a bit more polish needed compared to what we have seen, ensuring that fans will get a chance to enjoy Final Fantasy VII Remake when it launches exclusively for PlayStation 4 on April 10th, 2020.

You can read the official statement in its entirety down below:

“We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.

We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.

Thank you for your patience and continued support” – Yoshinori Kitase, Producer of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE.

Stay tuned as we’ll keep you up-to-date with future announcements and an upcoming review.
