Fallback could be this year’s Dead Cells for PC gamers

ENDROAD, a studio founded by former Ubisoft and Amplitude Studios veterans, has announced their title Fallback, one that could very well rival Dead Cells as one of the most challenging 2.5D rogue-like titles. Here’s the lowdown.

2017’s title Deadcells has continued to captivate us since its release. It’s been a game that has both infuriated and brought enjoyment due to its unique challenge that it came with. It brought together everything we loved about the Metroidvania genre while also delivering some of the most challenging gameplay yet in a completely progressively generated world.

Now, ENDROAD wants to rival that, delivering a game with a deep and diverse skill-tree that will put players abilities to the test. Fallback is set to release on Windows PC via Steam on October 11th, 2019, and will see that players explore a post-apocalyptic world with the help of jet-pack equipped volunteers. Just like its predecessor, Fallback will use a procedurally generated world that will shift and change as players explore it.

Players will also work to craft the ultimate hero using more than 50 unlockable skills to help them succeed in their journey, “Fallback is a truly exciting and immersive visual experience,” said Florian Le Gouriellec, Co-Founder of ENDROAD. “The way our world rotates to adapt to the player’s movements is a visual treat, and the expansive character skill tree combined with procedurally created worlds ensures the player a fresh experience with every play-through.”

You can check out the official description of Fallback as provided to us by ENDROAD down below:

The story of Fallback follows a group of rebels attempting to escape the underworld and bring life (and Humanity) back to the long-abandoned surface. After a terrifying cataclysmic event, humanity retreated to the safety of an enormous underground bunker constructed by the mysterious Vesta Corporation. In order to ensure the facility is well-maintained and the remnants of humanity are cared for, Vesta has stocked the subterranean safe house with an army of robotic caretakers. Fast forward hundreds of years to the present, and what’s left of the human population yearns to return home — taking with them a bioengineered plant that promises to bring life back to the surface. Choosing to reject the hapless humans’ request for freedom, these cybernetic custodians will try their best to make sure the humans remain underground under lock and key. In order to break the icy grip of their robotic overlords, a scrappy group of rebels have banded together, strapped on their jetpacks, and are ready to fight their way out and reclaim the Earth — one metallic monster at a time.

Along with the official outline of their game and you looking to take back the world before you, ENDROAD has also provided us with a trailer for Fallback, which you can check out down below.

Currently, there isn’t any news whether or not Fallback will launch at consoles or if the game will remain a PC exclusive for the time being. Meanwhile, you can check out Fallback on TwitterFacebook, and or join the official Fallback Discord to find out more about the upcoming game.
