If you’re jumping back into Monster Hunter World and are preparing for the brand-new Iceborne expansion, there are a few things you need to know along the way, and we’re here to help you get started, Adventurer!
Freshly off the digital shelves comes Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the very first expansion in one of the biggest entries in the franchise yet, and there’s no wonder why you might need it as there are a few steps newcomers may not know about quite yet. Don’t worry though, we’ve got you covered and without further ado, let’s get started.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will require you to complete the main campaign for the base game
One of the things that might get you by the goat before you get started is that you won’t be able to access your expansion until you defeat the Arch Tempered Kirin story mission, which will see that you adventure through the Choral Highlands to take him out. Additionally, you will need to have two other things available to you: An HR of 16 and the Iceborne expansion purchased.
If you have met those pre-requisites, you’ll want to head over to the Feisty Fiver. You’ll find this NPC near the Canteen or the quest boards in Astera. If you get the chance, you’ll want to talk to the Feisty Fiver. From him, you’ll find out that there are some strange and unusual events going on in the Ancient Forest. As it’s your sworn duty to help explore the root cause of these events.
After talking to him, you will depart, heading out on your first adventure into an even bigger and bolder new world itself. After completing the expedition, the next steps will take you to one of the brand new regions, Hoarfrost Reach. Once to Hoarfrost Reach, you’ll be tasked with hunting a Beotodus in order to finish the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne prologue.
Once you finish that, you’ll be headed off to the brand new hub world called Selina, the base of operations for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.
