ROCKFISH Games has officially been announced during Gamescom for PC in 2020 with a console launch in 2021. The game will be launching through Steam Early Access in the second half of 2020.
During Gamescom, ROCKFISH Games, the team that released the surprise hit title EVERSPACE has revealed an official release window for the upcoming sequel by the name of EVERSPACE 2. ROCKFISH Games has confirmed that EVERSPACE 2 will be launching on PC via Steam Early Acces and is currently scheduled for a mid-2020 release window for their upcoming game.
Additionally, EVERSPACE 2 has been confirmed for a 2021 release by the end of that year and will see the official PC release coincide with both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One releases at the same exact time. Along with its upcoming release windows, EVERSPACE 2 will see some significant enhancements across the board including classic RPG elements, open-world space shooter gameplay, and overall story improvements.
The game will also see a heavy upgrade from its predecessor, bringing audiovisual quality and scope to the forefront, which will be reflected by the games heightened developmental budget, allowing the teams to go above and beyond what they had established in their previous title.
“With its innovative concept of rapid space battles with rogue-like elements and exciting storytelling, EVERSPACE™ was able to excite over a million PC and console players, but many of our fans and space game enthusiasts were still longing for an open-world space shooter with classic RPG elements in the EVERSPACE™ universe,” says Michael Schade, CEO and co-founder of ROCKFISH Games. “With EVERSPACE™ 2, we are making a big leap towards an open-world space shooter, but will still remain true to our DNA and offer exactly what our fans love: A beautiful fantastic sci-fi world paired with uncompromising space action that gets down to business right away.”
ROCKFISH Games has confirmed that they are seeking to start a Kickstarter campaign on Sept. 9th, 2019, with a funding goal of €450,000 for EVERSPACE 2. The new campaign will help the indie studio have more funding for further capability, but also, it will allow for their fans to give critical feedback regarding the development and production of the game, which will be enhanced upon through campaign stretch goals once the campaign has been funded.
For those who were unable to attend Gamescom 2019, ROCKFISH Games has confirmed their team will be present at PAX West in Seattle from August 29th to September 2nd, and then at TwitchCon in San Diego from Sept. 27th to Sept. 29th.
