‘Blair Witch’ from Bloober Team is set to release on Xbox One and PC this August

Bloober Team is about to bring back the late 90s horror experience with Blair Witch during Microsoft’s E3 press briefing and it looks absolutely terrifying.

When the 90s came around, it seemed that horror movies were well on their way out. They’d become casual experiences, often outlined by a few gory scenes, blood flying across the room, and ultimately a body ending up to scare the living daylights out of those around them. However, that begun to change in 1999 when a little film from Lions Gate by the name of The Blair Witch project somehow managed to scare the living daylights out of all who watched it.

Just like the movie, Blair Witch will encourage you to grab your camcorders, grab your best black beanie, and make sure your nose is running when the action gets underway. For the first time ever, we’re getting a first-person psychological horror game from the masters of the horror series: Bloober Team, the minds behind Layers of Fear, >observer_, and Basement Crawl.

The upcoming horror game will take players deep into the iconic and dreadful woods of the Blair Witch project, sending players through a dizzying experience on both Xbox One and PC on August 30th, 2019.

We are so thrilled, and honestly a little scared, to bring all players, especially fans of Blair Witch, back into the haunted woods. It is genuinely an honor to be working on such a hair-raising, paradigmatic experience, which defined so many of our lives!” said Piotr Babieno, CEO at Bloober Team.

The team at Bloober is made up of amazing storytellers. We were excited to give them the opportunity to craft an original narrative set in the iconic woods of Blair Witch,” said Daniel Engelhardt, Senior Vice President of Lionsgate Interactive Ventures & Games. “They’ve taken the evil hiding in the Black Hills Forest to a whole new level. Players should enter at their own risk.

In the story, a young child has disappeared in the Black Hills Forest near Burkittsville, Maryland, in 1996. As Ellis, a former police officer with a rather troubled past, you’ll join the search for the missing child. As you do, you’ll soon discover this once ordinary investigation has soon turned into an endless nightmare, one where you will be forced to confront your darkest fears and the Blair Witch itself, a mysterious force that haunts the woods, shaping its to its desire in order to entrap those who visit into its confines.

Blair Witch is set to release on August 30th, 2019, for $29.99, on Xbox One and PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass when it releases. Stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated about Blair Witch if more information is released.
