In a unique announcement, GammaRay and Celestial Pictures have revealed that they will begin a marathon of 44 of the most beloved Shaw Brothers Kung Fu movies over on GammaRay’s official Twitch channel starting today.
For fans of Kung Fu movies, there’s no doubt their hearts have skipped a non-metaphorical beat. In an exciting announcement, GammaRay and Celestial Pictures have revealed that they will officially be airing 44 of the most beloved films to come from Shaw Brothers Studio, which was originally created by siblings Runje, Runme, and Runde Shaw in 1925.
With films coming from Celestial Pictures, you can expect to see some of the most iconic films in the history of the Kung Fu genre to air such as King Boxer, Crippled Avengers, and even Five Deadly Venoms, along with the dozens of other films that will be present over the course of the week. The week-long event will run until Friday, February 8, 2019, on GammaRay’s Official Twitch channel starting today. On Thursdays and Friday’s at 5:00pm PT, the pair has revealed they will have for weeks worth the double feature movie nights for fans to enjoy.
“We’re excited to introduce cult classic movies from the 70s and 80s to our fans on Twitch for the first time,” said GammaRay COO Do Duong. “Kung fu has influenced filmmaking, hip hop music, and pop culture, so we’re thankful to Celestial Pictures for access to their Shaw Brothers action titles, and to Twitch for using their service to introduce a larger audience to the kung fu phenomenon.”
With having launched the careers of famous actors such as Jet Li, Ti Lung, David Chiang, Alexander Fu Sheng, Gordon Liu, and Jimmy Wang Yu. Most known for their acting in some of the greatest Kung Fu and martial arts films in the history of film-making itself. With this amazing event happening on Twitch itself, it goes to show the platform is no longer about just artists, streamers, and content creators, but an even bigger vision to grow the platform itself.

Thanks to GammaRay, we get to livestream over 40 of the Shaw Brothers’ seminal movies with an interactive global audience.”
Those unaware of who Celestial Pictures may not know about the legacy of the Shaw Brothers Studios themselves, which has developed into Celestial Pictures becoming the custodian to a very unique and beloved legacy. Now, with over 760 digitally remastered classics, GammaRay and Celestial are prepared to show off some of those very films that helped grow a unique and powerful legacy with the power of Twitch.

Along with the news of the announcement, Twitch has confirmed that Twitch streamers will be able to co-stream the marathon that starts today. The co-streaming feature itself will allow Twitch streamers to share another channel’s video feed to their channel, but with their own unique commentary and community itself. The result? A more personalized and social experience for very different communities to come together and enjoy the upcoming marathon and the movies that it will feature.
