Where is our review for Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Legacy of the Hidden Blade – Shadow Heritage? Our Editor-in-Chief wants to give you an update about what’s going on.
When it comes to reviewing DLC, it can be difficult as editor-in-chief to decide what does and does not get published on our site. As part of our initiative to provide the best reviews we can, we have also decided to err on the side of caution. With the changes that were made from the previous DLC, primarily to the players decision making options, we’d already begun to run over our review, prepping it for publication when the news had broken that Ubisoft would be doing some changes to the overall content of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey: Legacy of the Hidden Blade – Shadow Heritage.
Because of these changes, a couple of key members and myself sat down and discussed the fate of the review. While we would have preferred to have our review, which is completed, out sooner than it is now, we have decided to withhold the publishing of our review due to the changes being made and have decided it would only be fair to run the review itself in its final state.
Normally, we would opt against this and publish the review for the initially released version. However. We all know changes can be made to games these days. Narratives can be altered, decisions can be redefined for those unhappy with their previous choices. As many of us know, these changes will only be made to a very specific cutscene and some minor dialogue changes to better reflect player decisions.
Because of this, we still feel that these changes could be vital enough to completely change a review score in itself. While the core gameplay and story additions are spectacular, we still felt that this is important enough to reflect our views on how content and reviews should be handled and thus why our reviews may take slightly longer than others for publication.
With that said, we won’t hold off our review for too long. While we know “Bloodline” is in the works, it’s important to remember that Ubisoft is about quality over quantity and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey remains a prime example of their initiative as it is our very own here at Blast Away the Game Review. For now, I’d like to state that our review has been concluded, but also, at the same time, it will remain unpublished for the next week or so to await the changes are in the works.
Sincerely,
Dustin Murphy
