In a surprise announcement by Tokyo-based indie studio Friend & Foe, the team has revealed their upcoming title Vane will be launching this January as a PlayStation 4 exclusive. Here’s everything you need to know.
Vane is an upcoming title with more than four years of development under its metaphorical belt. Hard at work behind the game is the independent studio Friend & Foe who is based out of Tokyo, Japan. Described as a hallucinatory adventure, Vane will see players transform between both bird and child forms as they seek to unravel the mysteries of an expansive and mysterious land.
Set to launch on January 15, 2019, those looking to explore an expansive landscape filled to the brim with mysterious caves, machinery and the steel to weather the brute force of storms, can pre-order Vane today for $24.99 USD. Those who do so today can also receive a dynamic theme for the game.
“With Vane, we wanted to make a game that emphasizes mood and atmosphere over more conventional mechanics,” said Art Director Rasmus Deguchi. “While loosely inspired by titles like Journey and Ico, we wanted to make something different. A little more unsettling. A little more surprising. A little more primal. It’s been a long and wild journey making Vane and we can’t wait for the world to experience what we’ve cooked up!”
Stay tuned for our future coverage of Vane as we near its PlayStation 4 exclusive launch in the upcoming weeks.
