Remnant: From the Ashes is an upcoming third-person coop title by Gunfire Games, who is currently hard at work on Darksiders 3. The upcoming title will focus more on a more realistic and dark aesthetic compared to titles such as Warhammer: Vermintide 2 and the Darksiders series.
Horde shooters are all the craze. Titles like Earthfall, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, and even Space Hulk: Deathwing are testaments to this very fact. However, Gunfire Games is looking to change things up with their upcoming title Remnant: From the Ashes, a third-person cooperative title that will separate itself from the rest with dynamically-generated worlds, a post-apocalyptic aesthetic, item crafting, and a plant-like enemy known as The Root.
The Root are a unique enemy as they are not from our world, but rather, an alternate dimension where these plant-like creatures come from. as they invade our world, players will have to work together to stop their ongoing invasions, fighting them back over the course of their time with the game. While little is known about the upcoming game, it does look like it could be quite different from other co-op focused titles in this genre.
To be quite honest, it seems to be drawing quite a bit of inspiration from titles such as Earthfall, Warframe, and even Fortnite: Save the World. Gunfire Games and Perfect World have confirmed that Remnant: From the Ashes is expected to launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2019.
