Madmind Studio has released an update regarding the future of Agony and the Agony Unrated version, which we hoped, would launch on PC later this year, giving the promised version fans had long awaited since its release.

Earlier today on Kickstarter, Madmind Studio released a statement regarding the future of their game, which has dared to do what others had not in recent years. As fans of the games took to the corridors of Hell, the game was hit with technical issues ranging from a wide array of bugs that were wiping save files clean, crashing the game, and even leaving the game almost unplayable due to hitching issues.

As part of their message, Madmind Studio has stated that their unrated version of the game has been canceled due to the company currently “currently struggling with financial problems” and that they must cancel development of the unrated version. Additionally, Madmind did confirm that a part of their team will “continue to support Agony and Steam and consoles by publishing new patches.”

Currently, the team has confirmed that an Xbox One X console update has been sent over to Microsoft their publisher. Additionally, the team has confirmed that the patch should release in the next couple of days for Xbox One users. You can see the full statement down below.

Hi Gamers,

We regret to inform you that our company is currently struggling with financial problems. Due to technical and legal reasons, Madmind must cancel the development of Agony Unrated. Part of the team will continue to support Agony on Steam and consoles by publishing new patches.

Regarding the Xbox One patch – we have managed to find and fix the bug that was present on the Xbox One X console. We have sent the improved update to our publisher, who will pass it to the Microsoft today or tomorrow and we are expecting it to be approved in the next couple of days.

PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC will get another patch this week. It will introduce many fixes and a highly refined lighting system.

Kind regards,
Madmind Studio

Stay tuned as we’ll have our review out for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game once the update launches.
