It almost comes as no surprise that a new map could have been in the work as quickly as Miramar aka the Desert Map had launched. In the recent months, Bluehole and PUBG Corporation have been hard at work improving the game in every way possible. These improvements include a new anti-cheat system, balancing changes, and performance enhancements across the board.
Along with matchmaking enhancements to lower ping rates, the team has also been hard at work to ensure that fans get the best experience possible now that the game has fully released on PC via Steam. Along with this news comes the confirmation that the team has also been hard at work fulfilling their road-map for 2018, which also includes new content including clothing items, improvements to performance and gameplay methods, but also a new map, which will launch in the first half of the year, giving us a window from now until the month of June. You can read the statement down below.
Early this year, development of some of the major features and systems was delayed as our focus shifted towards tightening our anti-cheat effort. Also, due to other reasons, we have not been able to show you the team’s development roadmap for 2018. We would like to ask for our players’ generous understanding that despite the team’s eagerness to share what we have been planning and working on, the timing had to be changed. We do have a lot of exciting things that we want to share with you, including new content to provide more extensive battle royale experiences as well as improvements and modifications to create a deeper and more realistic gameplay. In March, the team will reveal what you can expect from us in the first half of 2018 in terms of our development and new content plans which, by the way, include a new map.
The team has also announced that the current updates on the test build via the PTR are proven to be stable, they will be deployed to the live servers here soon and the team will keep players updated when these changes go in effect for all players of the game.
For more information about their statement, you can visit on the PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Steam Community post via Steam or the website. For those wondering about release information for the Xbox One version, the company hasn’t announced when console players can expect the launch of the Desert Map called Miramar. Stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated as more information is released.
