Sword Art Online is undoubtedly one of the most beloved anime franchises out there. It shows with the massive support the games have been getting in recent years. Today, our friends at Bandai Namco Entertainment America have announced that the latest title in the franchise, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, will be making its way into the action RPG series. The game will be changing gameplay from previous titles by introducing third-person shooter action, which has never before been seen within the games.
The game will be the first to form a hybrid of third person shooting and RPG elements to the franchise by allowing fans to enjoy a smooth balance of gun and sword play. To help bring this to life the series creator Reki Kawahara is crossing players into a new cross-over event with Sword Art Online II known as “Gun Gale Online”. In this new game, you’ll be let free to explore the games robust and lush environments powered by the Unreal Engine 4.
While exploring the landscapes developed by Dimps, fans will be able to perform agile double jumps, air dashes, and even wall-ti-wall repelling while swapping between weapons. During the game, you’ll also have a change to enjoy some classic platforming and shooting gameplay while enjoying the newest adventure in the Sword Art Online universe. To make this even more enjoyable, the company also announced that the game will have full multiplayer cooperative and competitive modes for up to eight players.
“For the first time in the history of the franchise, Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet presents the compelling universe of the Sword Art Online series with exciting new third-person shooter action, creating a unique experience that truly stands out in the series,” said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. “The Sword Art Online universe continues to grow in popularity among audiences in the Americas and its evolution has provided us with a great canvas from which to develop new and exciting experiences for Sword Art Online and RPG fans to enjoy.”
While we still have a bit of a wait for the game, fans can still take on the enjoyable world of Accel World vs. Sword Art Online: Millenium Twilight, which we reviewed earlier this year. Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is set to release in early 2018 for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Stay tuned for our pending review.
