Rune Factory 4 Special for the Switch has received an official release date

Rune Factory 4 Special - Gameplay 05

Announced in 2019 by Marvelous USA, Inc. and XSEED Games, the duo revealed that the Nintendo 3DS, Rune Factory 4, would be headed to the Nintendo Switch. As of now, we have an official release date.

Set to release on February 25th, 2020, XSEED Games has revealed that fans can once more dive into the magical world that they had so carefully crafted when they localized the game just a few short years ago for Nintendo 3DS. Due to both fan-based and critical acclaim, Rune Factor 4 Special will take fans on that magical experience once again.

XSEED Games has also revealed a limited edition “Archival Edition” that is available through the XSEED Games Store and participating retailers for $59.99. Those looking to get a physical standalone or digital edition can do so for $39.99 today. Both editions are available for pre-order at participating retailers and the Nintendo eShop starting today. All digital pre-purchases will include the “Swimsuit Day” DLC pack, a special in-game Order decreeing that all marriage candidates wear swimsuits, and the game itself.

XSEED Games also revealed that the “Swimsuit Day” DLC will also be included with the “Archival Edition” and will not be sold separately on the Nintendo eShop at a later date. Alongside the DLC pays you might already know about, there will also be an “Another Episode Pack” DLC, which contains 12 new storybook-style episodes narrated by the game’s marriage candidates, and will be available to all owners of the game as a free download for the first four weeks the game is available.

After that period, the DLC will cost $4.99 for the “Another Episode Pack”. Not a bad edition since Rune Factory 4 Special is a remastered version of the critically acclaimed RPG simulation title that sold more than 300,00 copies in North America when it released. The new Nintendo Switch release will also include a “Newlywed Mode,” which is a self-contained set of adventures that are unlocked after getting married.

As a new addition, XSEED Games has also revealed the game will support both English and Japanese audio. To commemorate the re-release, the carefully crafted and absolutely gorgeous “Archival Edition” will include an art book containing the collective works of character designer Minako Iwasaki, new illustrations for the premium box and art book covered by Iwasaki.
