QuakeCon 2017 Dates and Location Announced

Ladies and gentlemen, that time of the year has begun to get underway as we prepare for our favorite event of the year, and the very one we are looking forwards to. For many of you, you have already known that QuakeCon is one of the most distinguished festivals of all time. Originally started in 1996, QuakeCon premiered in Dallas, Texas, where it has remained growing ever since.

This year fans can once more find themselves in the Dallas metro through August 24th to August 27th this year.

As usual, the year will remain free thanks to id Software, Bethesda Softworks, and the amazing QuakeCon volunteer staff, and this years sponsors as well as exhibitors.

However, the event location has changed from the usual Hilton Anatole where we’ve been seeing it for the past few years. This year, attendees, exhibitors, and even developers can expect to visit QuakeCon this year at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, TX. You’ll want to take at a special message from Bethesda below.

DETAILS:

Entering its 22nd year, QuakeCon 2017 will continue to celebrate games and the people who play them by hosting North America’s largest BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN party. With over two thousand BYOC seats available, participants can showcase their custom computers and join the QuakeCon gamer community to play their favorite games either solo or against one another on the same local area network.

QuakeCon is free for general attendees and open to the public. This year’s event will offer diverse activities for all, including those who choose not to bring their own computer. Attendees are first to see sneak peeks of Bethesda’s upcoming titles and announcements while also attending a wide array of presentations, tournaments, workshops and exhibits from leading tech companies showcasing the newest gaming accessories and hardware.

Quake Champions Brings Back the Old With the New

Remember the old days when you were growing up fragging your friends in the school computer lap? You don’t? Well our memories may be very different. As of today, Bethesda Zenimax has announced that Quake Champions will be opening up an entirely new approach to competitive multiplayer, tournaments, and the arena play styles we’ve come to know. It was a title that solidified eSports in a way never known to any over the deacdes. In development between id Software and Saber Interactive, Quake Champions.

The new title will feature characters with unique attributes, abilities, and even their own distinctive play styles. For fans familiar with Quake III Arena,  the PC community will once more get to take place with 120hz graphics, unlocked frame rates, and a game that will fill that spot that every gamer has been wanting.

20 years ago, Quake set new standards for multiplayer competition and pushed the boundaries for graphics and gameplay,” said Tim Willits, Studio Director, id Software. “It’s important to all of us at id Software that Quake Champions remains true to the Quake legacy, and delivers the speed and gameplay our long-time fans expect, while also pressing forward by introducing innovative gameplay opportunities with new Champions and abilities.

With more than 20 years of Quake veterans under the titles belt, the series will once more be pushing players to their max ability with its upcoming launch. Built for eSports and competitive play, Quake Champions seeks to bring in new players from amateurs to veterans. The game will be supported for QuakeCon tournaments, and leagues around the world as the title seeks to attract tens of thousands of people to Dallas on August 4th through the 7th this year. QuakeCon’s Third Round of Pre-Registration Goes Live Today

If you’re looking to go to QuakeCon and want in. Bethesda has announced that the “BYOC Select-a-Seat’ package is set to open today, March 23rd at 7pm CT/8pm ET at: registration.quakecon.org.

The ‘BYOC Select-a-Seat’ package ($40 | limit of 2,100 packages available), with guaranteed reserved seating, includes:

  • Select and Reserve a guaranteed seat of your choice in the BYOC area

For those of you looking to go without a BYOC seating, general attendee’s can still get in free while also wishing to participate in the QuakeCon events. You may have seen the fact we cover Bethesda Zenimax’s event QuakeCon quite a bit. The why is undoubtedly because of how fun the event actually is. Let alone do you get to play some awesome games, join a massive LAN party, but you also get to spend some time with the developers from the company. Bethesda today, has announced that the online pre-registration details for QuakeCon 2016, allowing for fans to once more gather in Dallas, TX on Thursday August 4th through Sunday, August 7th. They will be offering a number of premium BYOC packages for purchase through the shows online pre-registration.

For those familiar with the registration process, the BYOC packages have been streamlined this year, and will open up with a series of three stages of pre-registration for general attendees. The full description for these packages offered by Bethesda can be found below, as well as the dates for those wanting to register for this years events.

This year is something a bit new to the process. This year pre-registered attendees will be able to build their own swag packages full of exclusive QuakeCon merchandise during the online registration process. Cool, huh? We think so. QuakeCon 2016 Gets Dated

It’s probably no secret to you that our team enjoys going to QuakeCon down in Dallas, Texas at the Hilton Anatole. Why? We get to meet some of the coolest people that come in the forms of exhibitors, guests, PC enthusiasts, press members, and even professional gamers who decide to show what it takes to be the best of the best. Let alone does this event that started back in 1996 have a long running legacy thanks to a group of friends creating it; the event is also a four-day long BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN party that consists of thousands of gamers from around the world – Literally.

Having been there to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of QuakeCon, we got to spend time with more than 12,000 people who came through the doors and even talk to hundreds of them. Thanks to the support of id Software, Bethesda Softworks, the volunteer staff, and the exhibitors; the event gets to happen again and continue doing so. Aside from us discussing what happened at QuakeCon 2015, lets look at the dates for QuakeCon 2016. For those interested the dates will take place between Thursday, August 4th till Sunday, August 7th, 2016.
