With many conventions, such as GDC, being postponed or altogether canceled, Bandai Namco and their event organizers have released an update regarding the status of both the TEKKEN World Tour 2020 and SOULCALIBUR World Tour 2020 due to rising concerns of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).

It’s no surprise that many of us are doing what we can to keep from getting sick. While the flu continues to run rampant as ever, there’s another illness that the media has been discussing quite a bit, which many of us know as Coronavirus or COVID-19.

In order to ensure that the health and safety of organizers, attendees, and competitors remain their top priority; Bandai Namco has revealed a delay to their esports tournaments and their qualifying rounds. Both have been bumped to later dates from their original schedules.

For TEKKEN World Tour attendees that expected to attend the Norcal Regionals in San Jose, California, on April 10th, 2020, can expect to see the event to proceed as intended. However, Bandai Namco has revealed that the TWT qualifying round and Bandai Namco will not be attending for safety and concerns of everyone planning on attending. The Mixup scheduled for Lyon, France, on April 18th, 2020, has also been delayed and the date will be revealed at a later time.

Those looking to attend the SCWT Final Round on March 30, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia, will need to reschedule as well as the Qualifying Round and Bandai Namco will be absent from the event. The event, however, does intend on going, but will not qualify those looking to enter SCWT Final Round. The SCWT will also be absent from The Mixup in Lyon, France, as well, and a rescheduled date will be announced at a later time.

“We are actively monitoring and evaluating COVID-19 developments and will strive to provide updates on new officially-sanctioned tournament dates, finals qualification criteria, and points tallies as soon as possible,” stated a spokesperson for Bandai Namco in an official press release.

They have also revealed that you can keep track of the latest developments for both The TWT2020 and SCWT2020 at the following sites:
