Fractured Minds is a game looking to help raise awareness about mental health. The game was designed and written by Emily Mitchell, winner of the 2017 BAFTA Young Games Designers award. Here’s everything you need to know.

Released earlier today for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, Fractured Minds, will take players through a wild adventure in this first-person puzzle adventure title that highlights the impact of mental health issues for those who struggle with them on a day-to-day basis.

Those looking to partake in the game’s overall experience can do so starting today for $1.99/ £1.79 / €1.99. Ms. Mitchell, the games creator, has announced that 80% of the proceeds will go to Ms. Mitchell and Safe In Our World, a new games industry charity dedicated to raising and supporting mental health awareness.

Fractured Minds comes from the mind of Emily Mitchell, at 17, designed to take players through a personal, deep, and emotional experience with what those who live with a mental illness might feel. This means you will embark on a deep and personal journey through the solidarity that those suffering from mental illnesses might have.

You will explore isolation to anxiety with everyday situations being the backdrop of the experience as they become distorted beyond recognition, “I created Fractured Minds to help those who suffer from anxiety and other mental health issues feel they’re not alone,” said Emily Mitchell. “The effects of illness can be invisible from the outside, yet debilitating to those affected, so it’s important to continue raising awareness and offering support. I am grateful for the support I’ve received and want to help others however I can.”

As part of the initiative to raise mental health awareness, Safe In Our World was formed in order to raise awareness of mental health issues among gamers, creators, and working to push for positive change within the industry. The charity is supposed by industry veterans and ambassadors from around the world in order to create a digital destination where those suffering from mental health troubles can seek help, gain access to important resources and information.

“Fractured Minds represents the best of what inspired talent can aspire to offer to the world, and Safe In Our World is honored to be a beneficiary as we support Emily and her poignant project,” said Gina Jackson, Trustee for Safe In Our World. “We are passionate about shedding light and destigmatizing mental health conditions while helping the gaming community to come together in support of one another.”
