Nathan Fillion as Nathan Drake from Uncharted is amazing

Yesterday, Nathan Fillion, Stephen Lang, and friends have released their take on the Uncharted universe with a 15-minute cinematic that was everything we’d hope for from a big-budget movie on a rather tiny budget. Here’s what you need to know.

When it comes to video games, anime, T.V. shows, and cartoons, we’re no strangers when it comes to getting some rather well-made fan films and shorts. Some of them, such as Dragon Ball Z: Light of Hope is only a subtle nod to the amazing talent of creators that have taken to social media, video streaming sights, and online resources to show their talent and passion for the franchises they know and love.

Since the launch of the Uncharted franchise on PlayStation 3, fans around the world have been clamoring for a Nathan Fillion led Uncharted movie. Even with an announcement a few years back by Sony, it seems the franchise has been going nowhere and nothing has exactly happened to make the movie series come to light. It’s even gone as far as announcing both Shawn Levy and Tom Holland, the Spider-man: Homecoming star, to the film, it seems that nothing has gone anywhere.

In hopes to get things started, the former Firefly star (Nathan Fillion) and filmmaker Alan Ungar (The Sound, Gridlocked) decided to take the dive and make a fan film we never knew we didn’t deserve. On the official IGN YouTube channel, the video has already garnered over 200,000 reviews since its debut on their channel and on Alan Unger’s official channel, the short has been viewed more than 1.5 million times and counting.

In the short the casting isn’t just something to bat your lashes at, in many ways, this short could be the fanmade production we need to see another Deadpool-esque demand for a movie begin. After all, it worked for Ryan Reynolds, the star of the live-action Deadpool films so why won’t it work for the star-studded cast? Who the Hell knows, but this short should be putting a boot right up Sony’s rears in order to get this version of the movie series going. Curious about the casting? You can check it out down below.

  • Nathan Fillion – Nathan Drake
  • Stephen Lang – Sully
  • Mircea Monroe – Elena Drake
  • Geno Segers- Lead villain
  • Ernie Reyes Jr. – Villain

With this already star-studded cast, a fifteen minute short, and a whole lot of Uncharted comedic values, action-packed scene, and A-plus acting, we can only wonder what will happen with this film. Alan Ungar and Nathan Fillion have already committed to an interview with EW where they already stated they received a couple of emails – well we reckon hundreds of emails – about “what this could mean as a digital series or something further.”

In the short, we get to see Nathan Drake get kidnapped by an unknown group of mercenaries who are hunting down the lost treasure of the Flor de la Mar ship. During the short Fillion does nothing short of what we’ve come to know and love with the Uncharted series. This includes the franchises well-known sense of action, comedy, and historical endeavors, but for this very purpose, they’ve all been packed into a 15-minute short. You can check out the official short from Allan Ungar’s YouTube channel down below.

After watching the short, what do you think of Allan Ungar, Nathan Fillion, and the current cast and crew sticking together for a full-fledged series or set of streaming service episodes where this short happened to leave us off at?  Let us know in the comments below.
