Boss Key Productions and Nexon have confirmed that Lawbreakers is shutting down this September, even after critical success, the game just didn’t catch on. Here’s what you need to know.

Much like recent games with big dreams and tons of ambition in recent years, it has been confirmed by both Nexon and Boss Key Productions – the latter having already ceased to function once Cliff Bleszinski, co-founder of the studio left. Shortly after, it was confirmed that the game would stay online for the time being, but unfortunately, it has been revealed by Nexon and the team behind the game that LawBreakers will sunset on Sept. 14, 2018.

During this period, Nexon has confirmed that the game will be shutting down on that very day. They have not discussed the future use of peer-to-peer hosting or private games for fans that wish to continue playing post-shutdown. In their statement, the official LawBreakers team did announce that the game will remain free-to-play for PC players. Additionally, all microtransactions have been disabled during this time.

For those looking for a refund, you may be a bit more disappointed as the team has also confirmed in their statement that no refunds for the game will be issued to those who chose to purchase LawBreakers. You can read the full press statement down below.

“Dear LawBreakers,

In light of the unfortunate news regarding Boss Key Productions shutting down, we regret to announce that we will be sunsetting our support of LawBreakers on September 14, 2018, as we are not able to operate the game.

Our servers will remain open until then and the game will be made free-to-play on Steam for all players effective immediately. Please note that any and all new in-game purchases will also be disabled and we will not be able to accept any refund requests.

We truly appreciate your understanding in this difficult time and we want to thank you all your support and being a part of the passionate LawBreakers community.

Thank you for staying with us throughout this journey.

-The LawBreakers Team
