We all do it once in a while, get the guys and gals together, jump in a party and take on a few super baddies for us to face off against some of the biggest threats we’ve yet to experience. While many games have already done so in their own unique ways, several of these upcoming games haven’t and each of them offers their own unique experiences for us to enjoy.

While the same can be said about many of these new upcoming titles, we can only anticipate what they have to offer, how they will differ from past experiences, and when they what type of gameplay elements they have for us to enjoy. So without further ado, let’s take a look at six of this year’s upcoming coop titles.

6. Space Hulk: Deathwing – Enhanced Edition

Since the release of Space Hulk: Deathwing fans have been applauding the game’s attention to detail, authenticity, and harrowing battles. However, Space Hulk: Deathwing has also been heavily criticized for its lack of content, offering small windows of opportunity for enjoyment here and there, but not much else. Luckily, it seems that Space Hulk: Deathwing may be prepared to change the status quo and become the magna opus for the Warhammer 40,000 first-person shooter games.

Streum On Studios has announced that Space Hulk: Deathwing – Enhanced Edition will see to it that groups of four will carry on with their mission. These squads of four will see themselves bashing their way through endless hordes of Genestealer’s in an attempt to take back what is rightfully theirs while facing down any threat they face with maximum prejudice. Did we also mention you can customize your character to fit your playstyle and even edit their combat abilities? Yea we can’t wait to play either.

5. GTFO

When we first saw GTFO, quite a few of us were probably somewhat stunned by what one of the minds behind Payday and Payday 2 with studio 10 Chambers Collective (10CC, see what they did there?), had to show us during the VGA’s this past December. While GTFO seemed like a clever joke, what we got to see, was anything but clever. To recap briefly, all we know is this: in GTFO players will take on the role of one of four scavengers, that are forced to explore the depths of a dangerous and vast underground complex that has been overrun horrific monsters. In this complex, players are forced to hunt down weapons, tools, and resources in order to survive.

However, what we don’t know are a lot more than what we’ve been given outside of the fact that players will enjoy a story written by Adam Gascoine who is known for his previous works on games such as The Last of Us and most recently id Software’s DOOM (check out our recent review for DOOM on Switch). All we know? We can’t wait for GTFO, which is set to release exclusively for Windows PC via Steam.

4. Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor – Martyr

It almost seems that in recent times, Warhammer 40,000 is a hot franchise and it also seems that a lot of developers have a lot of invested interest in the franchise. Additionally, it also seems that Warhammer 40,000 isn’t exempt from getting its isometric, top-down RPG take. The only downside here? There isn’t any and we truly can’t wait for the release to come out.

Luckily for everyone interested, just like Diablo III, players will get to group up with three other friends, shooting, beating, and marching their way through the world of Warhammer 40,000 Inquisitor – Martyr when it launches on May 11, 2018, for Windows PC via Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

3. Overkill’s The Walking Dead

Whether you’ve been ready for it or not, it seems that The Walking Dead is about to get a… How many chances at being a smash-hit game? Regardless, Overkill’s The Walking Dead is one of those games that will easily attract fans of zombie games and The Walking Dead is one of those that should easily be on your radar.

In Overkill’s The Walking Dead isn’t just your average zombie game, but rather a to-the-core coop title. In it, players will take on the role of one of four classes, while we know little of the classes, we can assume each will play a gigantic role in how your missions will unfold. Unfortunately, all we know is it’s coming out fall 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

2. World War Z the Game

Currently in development by Saber Interactive, World War Z is an upcoming zombie survival title where groups of four players will team up as they attempt to survive hundreds of zombies on screen at a single time. These aren’t your average zombies though. Just like the book and movie, it’s inspired from, zombies in World War Z won’t be easy. They’ll be fast, vicious, and they will traverse structures by making towers of zombies for them to cross.

In the upcoming game, players will take on the role of unique survivor stories by partaking in missions around the world in New York, Moscow, and Jerusalem. During these missions, you and your three friends will be required to lay down traps, barriers, and use the environment in their favor while utilizing a variety of weapons placed throughout the course of each of the game’s missions. Let’s just hope it does come out later this year for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

1. State of Decay 2

As the release of State of Decay 2 quickly approaches, it almost seems that Undead Labs knows exactly what it’s going to take in order to draw player interest in. Whether we are ready for it or not, it seems that State of Decay 2 is shaping up to be one of the best zombie survival titles on the market.

This means hunting down supplies together, fighting gigantic zombie hordes together, making items and even maintaining your survivors, your base, and… Well, resources. The only downside here? Well, it seems to be taking familiar queues from State of Decay and quite possibly improving upon the game’s flaws. If everything goes as planned, we may have one of the best base-building experiences on our hands next to Epic Games Fortnite: Survive the Storm.

  1. The Zombies in World War Z (the book) are your old fashioned slow moving ones. In Fact about the only thing that the book and the movie share is the title and a couple of locations such as the wall around Israel….which is never breached in the book.
